***OFFICIAL BIG12 EXPANSION THREAD***

leave Rutgers and UConn in the Big East for basketball while they remain independent for football. And they might just merge some C-USA schools but I do not see them getting AQ status in the future.

This could happen. I realize this is 99% about football, Rutgers had a splash in football but is largely a non-factor. But, I'd like to see UConn end up in a decent platform for MBB and WBB.

With Syracuse and Pitt going to the ACC, the Big East is doomed as a football conference. The Big 12 can be choosy about the teams they want. And certainly has a lot of options.

No way that Boise State gets an invite. Logistically and academically it makes NO sense.

Louisville is a shoo in. IMO, TCU is as well. Because of logistics and also because the addition of TCU absolutely dooms the Big East and makes the addition of Louisville a reality.

WVU may get an invite as the SEC has said they want Mizzou. And Mizzou may go. IMO, that would be a blunder on Mizzou's part.

Cinci is left out in the cold. Back to the C-USA for Cinci.

BYU may get an invite. They have money and a pretty big following. A lot of smoke means there is some fire.

I do not see the Big 12 having more than 12 teams. It just won't happen. 14 teams means splitting the pie up in a lot more ways. We go with 12 teams. The Big Ten will not move off of 12 teams. SEC will not move off of 14 teams. ACC may move to 16 teams. But may just stay at 14 and leave Rutgers and UConn in the Big East for basketball while they remain independent for football. And they might just merge some C-USA schools but I do not see them getting AQ status in the future.
If the Big East still has a FB conference, they will have AQ status because they have a contract with the BCS bowls until 2014. After that, it could change though.

Which would be the rationale for teams from the C-USA wanting to join the Big East.

But if the CUSA and MWC play their proposed title game, they're more likely to get a BCS bid than even the Big East with a few CUSA teams added.

Counting TCU there were 9 teams in that league. Two are to the ACC for sure and likely 4. Of the 5 left I'm guessing 2-4 get absorbed by the Big 12.

Any Big East team left, 1-3 of them, could have BCS access through CUSA/MWC mega conference. Frankly if ISU were in that position I'd prefer that to being in a conference of Temple, Navy, Army, ECU, Villanova and South Florida.

The mega conference will have teams like Boise State, Fresno St., Nevada, AFA, Hawaii, Houston, Southern Miss, Memphis, SMU, UCF and possibly South Florida. That's higher football prestige than what the Big East can hope to hold together with service academies, Temple, and too quick on the trigger ECU.

Still ticked off TCU isn't bringing their rifle team. We don't need partial members...
:jimlad:

Anymore info on Mizzou or Louisville/WV ? Now that Pollard is in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear much until it happens.

Mr Janny you as a moderator should know better than to be a ignorant, uneducated *******!

zero restraining order thank you very much!! hope I never see that ***** in my life

Louisville and Rutgers would be great, but I f-ing hate the idea of going past 12. 14-16 teams is just too big.
As Tank would say, look at all the new cheerleaders that would come to town. Glad to see those aTm boys move on.:swoon:

Rutgers seems a little far flung for the Big XII. At least West Virginia felt like a good cultural fit, Rutgers just doesn't feel right to me.

Agree. 12 is perfect for many reasons.

-8 conference games works
-Conference Championship
-You actually play everyone with some sort of regularity
