I'm just curious to what all you long time cyclone fans think of all the changes the Cyclone Marching Band has implemented this year. Do you like where we are going?

From what I've noticed, there seems like there is the bare minimum of love flowing between audience and band. It kind of increased as the season went on, and was great at the bowl game with the whole "cyclone power" chant, but beyond that it just seemed like nothing was there. Compare us to say... the UW Badger Band...

Just to clarify I'm not looking for a self congratulatory thread to how awesome/bad we are. I'm more looking for suggestions to help improve the band, things you may have noticed that you liked/didn't like to help us become a better band presence. Nothing annoys me more when I watch home games on TV and I see the opposing team get all kinds of screen time and the ISUCF'V'MB get literally none. :skeptical:

P.S. Brownie points if you know what ISUCF'V'MB stands for

iowa state university cyclone football varsity marching band

to be honest i didnt notice a difference from this year to any other, but i dont really critique the band

edit: besides the uniforms

I didn't see you guys go through the stadium like you normally do after halftime. I always like that. Other than that I didn't notice too much difference.

I liked the new band intro video they did this year. That should definitely stay.

Also liked the band coming over to play right in front of the student section. Seemed like there was always advertisements/music on the speakers while they were playing though? The guy up in the pressbox or whoever controls that needs to stop drowning out the band.

Other than that, y'all are great. I've heard from visiting fans that the interaction between the crowd (mainly the students) and the band at ISU is better than most anywhere else.

Not sure what you mean by this? I think the fan/band interactions are great.

Just from other college games I've been to it seems like there is more interaction between the student section and the band with certain things.

But then again its hard on the other side to tell so I could be completely wrong.

they still come up to my section every game. heres a suggestion randomize what sections u go to after halftime so every one gets to enjoy it........or dosen't have to get locked into or out of their seats.

Hmm. I believe where they go is up to the staff/drum major that leads it. But I know they always tend to go to places where the "heavy hitters" are.

I liked the video game themed songs that you did this year. Other than that, I cannot honestly remember a particular thing about the band.

As a former band member i had more of an eye on them, so i noticed several improvements, particularly drill\movement-wise, and also during pregame.

Agreed with whoever above said there needs to be better sync with the audio system, too many times they do play over the band.

As far as it being bare minimum, i think i saw more interaction between band\fans than ever this year, especially the two times the field was stormed.
