2012 football conf schedule is blank

Does that mean the other games such as an away game at Kansas might become a home game due to the shuffle?

I would like to put Texas teams towards the end and play Northern teams in good weather.

Interesting. Couldntve been more than a couple weeks ago that i checked the schedule and they had TCU in TAMU's place, but missouri still on there (assuming bc of legal wrangling).

Maybe this means theyre looking at shaking everything up again.

Probably end up with yet another @KSU, @OU year..

I wouldn't complain.. It could come back as @Texas @OU back to back weekends like it was under the old Big 12 North schedule when we flipped southern teams we faced.

We were the only North School that had to face both of them either away or home every couple years.

Wouldn't be too bad to play Oklahoma on the road. We seem to play them better on the road. We need KSU at home though. It sucked to lose three times in a row away from home.

Whatever the schedule is, I'll bet we have more conference home games than away games due to Iowa being on the road next season. We agreed to have 5 away games this year in order to match it up with Iowa at home, so I would be willing to bet the conference will accommodate us on having 5 home games this year.

I'll be Debbie Downer here...it was four times in a row - '08 in Manhattan, '09 and '10 in Kansas City, and '11 in Manhattan.

Would hope they keep the new Big 12 scheduling rules in place (heard these from a friend in the Ath Dept):
No teams play Texas and Oklahoma back to back.
No team ends with consecutive home games or consecutive road games -- we did this year only because we moved the Kansas State game to the end, along with a couple other schools who moved games after the Big 12 release their schedules -- Example: OU rearranged their schedule to have a game (against us) before playing Okie State because Stoops didn't want a bye-week before Bedlam.

This is what the Big 12 site has for 2012, but obviously not updated since A&M and Mizzou left, if you want something to guess off of:

@ Texas
Baylor
Missouri (TCU)
@ A&M (@ WVU)
Texas Tech
@ Kansas
Oklahoma
@ Oklahoma State
Kansas State

this site:
2012 Iowa State Cyclones Football Schedule

has a schedule minus aTm and Mizzou so that's probably the starting point.

I would assume if WVa takes over Mizzous schedule and TCU takes over aTm sched we could instert a home game with WVa and away to TCU after the home game with Baylor.

I know they want to move around the end of year games to get UT vs TTU and probably will put KSU vs KU so I am guessing things will change. Maybe we will end up with WVa at the end of the year.

We SHOULD end up with 7 home games this year unless we get screwed.

Figures the dates are going to change. I am trying to plan a wedding around football so now they will put a home game on our selected date.

This article is from 2010, but sort of helps explain...

On Schedule - Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site

"How did you determine the home/away balance for each team?
The first review by the athletic directors included a number of staff-developed guidelines, understanding that teams would play five home games/four away games in alternating years. We recommended that the school that has been involved in neutral site Conference games (OU-UT, BU-TTU, KU-MU and ISU-KSU) each went 4-4-1 (home-away-neutral) so that no program would ever have just three home designated Big 12 games in a year.

Our familiarity with the mindset of the institutions over the course of 15-plus years provided a solid point of reference from which to start. We recommended that each institution have multiple games per year in the state of Texas, a balance in the number of the longest charter flights each year, some competitive equity combined with financial impact related to gate and an effort to minimize the number of repeat games at the same site from the final year of the 12-team league to the first year of the 10-team conference.

The athletics directors seemed pleased with the first six grids that they reviewed, but asked if some minor adjustments were feasible. After a second review it was clear the athletic directors were more interested in getting the schedules right for the long run and not as concerned about the repeat site issue for 2010 and 2011. Make no mistake, that was a concern, but it was out-weighed by other factors.

In the approved matrix, each school will play at least two games per year in Texas; the Texas schools make only two trips per year to the northernmost schools; and we were able to address home/away opponent balance. We got down to as few as six repeat sites conflicts before addressing the input of all 10 schools and ended up with, I think, 11 conflicts before we settled into the desired home/away annual rotation."
