Weis is making 2.5 at KU I believe, and I have seen that Briles extension will be about 2.5 as well.

Good news although not surprising.

One, this doesn't mean someone can't buy him out. Makes it harder but he can still leave somewhere down the road.

Two, I predict we will lose a couple games somewhere next year and won't look very good, like we did to Mizzou and Texas and A and M. And people will call for his head and say that Pollard is an idiot for extending him. They will then want to fire the new OC, Wally Burnham, Paul Rhoads, Jamie Pollard, and also the new president.


Hell people were very critical of PR and Wally this year before they turned the ship.

I think some people need to look at the length of the deal rather than the money part of. A 10 year deal,imo, means that he would rather be here more than anywhere else. And a bump in pay of a million dollars a year is a helluva pay increase. Isu did its job in locking CPR up so people need to quit complaining about how much his raise in pay was. He is obviously ok with it so everyone else should be as well

Come on. We are NOT Iowa fans. We know who we are. I would hope that other members on this forum will squash idiots that want to say that.

I like how number 4 and 5 got fired. Number 8-10 are the happiest of the bunch.

Didnt Chiz sign an extension before he bolted? Just saying. Tying a coach down with a longer contract doesnt necessarily tie them down. Not to say that I think Rhoads is going anywhere anytime soon.

Some outsiders might laugh at Jamie for making such a huge commitment to a coach with an 18-19 record. But Jamie is person who's smiling right now. He knows that what he has in CPR is almost magical.

NOBODY could fit ISU better than CPR. It's about integrity, loyalty, work ethic, and passion.

Jamie has all the right pieces in place now (CPR, the Mayor, Fennelly) to put ISU in a wonderful position to enjoy success for years to come! It's a great time for folks to jump on board the bandwagon!

Iowa fans weren't their current selves before they started winning.
We know who we are now (in theory), but it'll change with success. That's the nature of the beast.

He'd been offered one, i dont know if he'd signed it though.

His base salary is one thing, but just like most sports contracts, I'm sure there are bonuses for performance. Most likely $$ for a certain number of wins, $$ for making a bowl game, $$$$ for making the NC game, etc.

Gundy missed out on like $500k when they didn't make the NC game.

Also, Paul's salary allows ISU to give more money to assistant coaches, like finding a quality OC with a decent salary.

I believe he was offered an extension but bolted for the Barn before he had a chance to accept it.

99.9% certain Chiz never had an extension official, or else the buy-out would have been $1million plus I would think. JP told him he wanted to discuss one with him, Gene was flattered based on the 5-19 record, but never started to negotiate.
