ISU just doubled his salary for going 18-19 in his first 3 years. I think that is more than justified.

Agreed. I wasn't trying to knock the move. Just saying I wouldn't have been upset to see him get even more than what JP gave him.

Yep. Part of the reason these coaches often run for the next guaranteed money is because they know they could be out of a job and unemployed for a year or two with just a couple bad seasons (or just one at the wrong school), so they take the new money while its there. Guaranteeing a long-term deal can diminish those concerns.

Kansas was just throwing money at a guy that had success at a doormat program, hoping that they would see immediate results. We were just burned by the Cheese, and hired a DC at a low salary hoping to see steady improvement. I can see a bigger raise in the next three years if we can get into the 8 win range.

Wait to see the incentives. This is just base salary.

Plus we don't know details yet. Maybe Rhoads said "Bowl in the endzone". Hey, a man can wish can't he?

So if it's 2mil/yr where does that put him in terms of other Big 12 coaches salaries?

10 years is a LONG commitment. He has the most job security in the Big 12 now.
