More Rhoads Speculation

Yep. JP, Fred, CPR, and Butch (from Butch's Amoco) all live on the same cul-de-sac.

Sweet. Next time my car needs towed, I'll try to get Butch to lower his price by telling him I know his neighbors.

Doesn't CPR live in rural Story County? In the same development as CFH, northeast of Ames?

I don't know about Butch, but JP and CPR live in seperate cul-de- sacs and Fred lives off a shared driveway. They all live in Country Estates tho.

It kills me that Gilbert rather than Ames gets the property tax benefits of having these high priced Ames employees living just outside our city.

You are seething with hatred. No?

Especially when it hits me in the checkbook. Seeing all that property tax money, along with all from Bloomington Heights, going to Gilbert does frustrate me, especially when they benefit so much from the resources of the City of Ames.

I see where your coming from. But on the flip side, think about this. You say they benefit from Ames resources/business. True. Now think about the traffic and fans they help bring to the area. Yes, no matter who is the coach for these sports teams, they bring in fans regardless. But with the rise of the football program under CPR, and buzz that Fred is creating for basketball. You could argue that they are doing their part in raising the revenue/growth of the City of Ames, more than we know. I see your side though.

Maybe if Ames is worried about it they should work with a developer to start an higher end development.

That ******* Butch should the last person allowed to live next to any ISU employees.

Butch is a big supporter of ISU athletics.

Granted, he probably makes some nice $$$ towing cars from the ISU campus, but he's only enforcing the schools parking restrictions. It's ISU's rules and someone has to do it, so at least it's a big supporter.

Their jobs bring Ames lots of tax revenue. I just want their property taxes also!

Makes sense to me, but they only seem to be able to prioritize "rabbitville" (the rapid reproduction of worthless apartments).

All this speculation seems dumb to me. Rhoads seems to be loving it at Iowa State. You can definitely see the programing growing with field success, recruiting success and attendance.

His only connection to Pitt is he was DC there for a number of years. All his friends and family are here in Iowa. He is in the middle of building a program that honestly, I see being the next Mizzou of the conference(consistently a threat to other teams and bowl games each year with 7-9 wins average.)

Pitt is looking for its 4th coach in less then a year. Their football dept is an absolute mess. They should be looking at getting the best non-BCS coach right now.

Thanks for posting, I didnt already see the other 842 threads about it.

This, the tax benefit Ames is missing on these homes, is 10 fold when you account for the fans they bring in and the money spent. Did Jim Walden live in Ames. I'd gladly have traded his tax revenue when I was in school for a winning football team. (Although he did have one 6-5 year)
