Booker?

Yes. Very much so. I have a completely unfounded suspicion that Allen really wanted to be a 2, but is forced back into this role by circumstances. As far as Booker, he has had bright spots, and has talent, much like the rest of the team. Just a matter of finding his role.

Which is odd, don't you think? Allen is 6-1. If he wants a shot at the NBA he is going to have to show he can be good at the 1. I would assume he wants that chance like every other college player?

Does not need to do this.

I'd prefer a dunk, but as long as he continues to make his layups consistently then I'm fine with it. Do what you do best. But it seems like the whole team is afraid to go up strong and dunk the ball (except Royce...at times). Everyone except Percy has shown an amazing ability of missing layups when it seems like they could just as easily dunk.

Yes, that would be odd. Freddie came out and said that Allen was so effective at the 2 that he kept him there. Perhaps my theory was incorrect there.

IF Allen is our best option at the 1 and the 2, I would submit that he is probably not enough better than Scottie or Tyrus at the 2 to make up for the drop off that we see at the 1 by going to Scottie there (especially with the team-wide effects of an ineffective point guard). Maybe this is what the staff has sorted out through the first several games.

Last night saw dunks in traffic by Ejim and McGee, and a sweet breakaway at the end by Sledge.

I agree that we've been too layup-happy in earlier games, and apparently can't make layups as a team, but last night is the one game where we were going for the rim instead of the layup. Hopefully that continues.

Booker is soft and he seems to be a baby. Definitely the weakest link among the transfers.

Chris Allen maybe finally seeing the fact that they dont win without a PG and so he is finally filling the role he should have all season. Better this way if he takes off than being forced there at the start of the year and having him pout the whole time. If it seems like his idea then he should play harder. Pyschology at its best.

Percy I love you man but dunk the ball. To be honest the starting lineup I'd like to see is Allen at the point, Babb/Mcgee at the 2, Melvin at the 3, Royce at the 4, and Percy at the 5. I think Melvin guarding another teams athletic 3 is ideal. but thats my opinion only.

I was thinking the same thing. I think Melvin would do great if we let him play the 3 and basically let him imitate Rashon Clark. Tell him to be a cutter/slasher, and a shutdown defender and I think he becomes a totally different player. I think both Booker and Railey can spell underneath just fine. You then have Mcgee who can come in at the 1,2, or three, Christopherson for the Two, and Bubu at the 1 or 2. Bubu has been terrific in the minutes he has been given this year. I think with Allen at the point, and Scotty becoming a role player, we could really do some great things still this season.

Booker looked ****** going into the locker room at halftime.

He was also the last one off the bench during timeouts and kind of moped on up to the team huddle. Showed no emotion, no talking, nothing. He just looked like a freshman stole all of his minutes....oh wait.

But he doesn't cut or slash. He sets a screen and floats to the 3-point line and clanks a three.

Actually last night was a little better, but not much.

I agree last night was significantly better, althought I wouldn't say McGee's dunk was really in traffic. There was a guy coming behind him. But lets be honest, that team was absolutely terrible. And I don't mean to take anything away from the improvement from the last few games. But its hard to take a whole lot from playing a team like that.

Since Booker has been in college for 4 years he may be able to graduate in May and not be back next year. That would certainly be up to him but if he's not seeing the floor...

I'll give you McGee. I was really wavering on whether to include that one.

I won't defend that opponent. I'm trying not to take much away other than a lopsided victory that could have been bigger. They absolutely stink.

Since it's that week now: They make Iowa look good.

McGee brings it every game, seems like Percy does too along with bubu.

This. Tonight's opponent was not a good basketball team. I don't think you can realistically draw any meaningful conclusions from this game, other than it was probably a good confidence booster for the guys.

He also looked very good against Michigan, second only to Royce in the post. I'd agree that he should be starting.

Anyone else like Allen at point too?

I do as long as he doesn't become the black hole. In the Michigan game he got the ball and was intent on shooting it. He has the ability to create space and make passes to the shooters. Don't know why the Scotty experiment took so long, seemed like we were wasting his greatest skill, shooting.

Also, I think the should feed White the ball more.

Disclaimer, I'm not a basketball expert.

Chris Allen is 6-3. Previously I've even seen him listed as 6-4, and he's fairly long for a guard. Extreme hops too.

From the way he acted tonight he might not be out for a while either. He seemed to be pouting the whole night. Was never close to the huddle, didn't walk into the locker room with the teammates at halftime or the end of the game, he was always a good 10 or so steps behind. Just seemed like he didn't want to be there at all tonight.
I've only seen a couple of games this year, but when I have seen Booker play, he seems lose control of his emotions rather quickly. He'll miss a shot, get all mad, then go make a stupid foul on defense to try and make up for the missed shot. Before you know it, he's been pulled from the game. I'm sure the guy just wants to contribute and help the team win, but he's got to realize that he's not going to make every shot and has to keep a cool head and not let his emotions get the best of him.

I agree, and at the same time I disagree. He is the one player on our team that most opponents can't stop. Yet I think I could actually post up better than him, and I'm 5'9". He gets good position and gets pushed all the way out to near th 3 point line by the time he gets the ball. I think he can be unstopable down low, but he seems like he would rather play with the face to the basket. But he can still be really good playing that way as well.

If you are talking about extreme hops lets talk about Sledge, he's what? maybe 3' tall and dunked last night. Pretty impressive, but he sucks at most other things.
