***OFFICAL: I BOOKED MY TRIP THREAD***

Been noticing lots of talk about soho/little italy so figured I would put in a cheap plug. My wife is a bar manager at this place called firefly in soho. 18 projection screen tvs and a really good vibe for watching games and stuff like that. website is FIREFLYNYC.COM

Just a tip for those on this board: jason33 got a room at the LaGuardia Hampton Inn (a Hilton property) for $143/nt, so I dropped out of the Marriott rooms I had on hold for $268/nt and jumped into the Hampton action as well. Don't plan to spend much time in a room/hotel & Hamptons are known to be clean & comfortable. If a $143/nt room helps some of you make the decision to go to the game, I wanted to let you know that there are those options available.

Be ready for high percentages for taxes. IIRC, it may be 15-18%.

Okay CF People,

Never been to NYC let alone any really big cities. If I fly into Newark, stay at their hotel, its 25 miles to the stadium, is that ideal? Trying to find a cheaper hotel and good transportation. Also would like to get to times square at some point, whats the best route? LaGuardia is only 8 miles from stadium, would that be better? I would love to get an someones itinerary.

We are flying into LGA which is 13 miles from the stadium. 140 per night at the Hampton in (right by the airport). We are flying into LGA since it is closer to the stadium and the difference in flight was onlt 10 bucks.

How many nights? What is the transportation between hotel and stadium? Trying to get a budget for me and the misses.

If your close to the train, you will be ok. . . just check what the transit options are, like how close it is to the train station or tube train, either one will get you into the city. or a bus that goes into new york, either way. Most trains go into new york til about 1 am and start running again at about 4 or 5 so its pretty good access. If you catch the train from newark, you will be at 34th street in like 30 minutes at the most (meaning less then that) and that puts you one subway stop away from time square.

We will pry end up taking a Cab to the stadium for the game. Will run at least 30 bucks i'm guessing but from the hotel, there is NOT subway access.

We are staying the 29th, 30th and 31st.

Hey man looking forward to a great game and meeting some of you at the game! OK, some pointers:

1) Newark to NYC is a very easy trip, either via rental car or train (NJ Transit or PATH); not even a bad trip, driving, from Newark to Yankee Stadium. If you leave the airport area after rush hour, say 9:30AM or later, you should make the stadium in 30 minutes easy.

2) LOTS of great places to eat in the "Ironbound" district of Newark, not far from the airport, which are Portuguese and Brazilian. If you've never eaten Portuguese BBQ, and you have an appetite, hit up one of the spots there for an "all you can eat" and, trust me, you'll have more than you could ever imagine to eat!

3) Other great areas to stay, that are cheaper and very convenient to Manhattan and Yankee Stadium: Jersey City and Newport waterfronts, Hoboken and Secaucus, NJ, and Long Island City (Queens).

4) If travelling to the game via mass transportation, once in Manhattan you want to take the 4 (Green) or the D (Orange), as both are "express" routes and from the Empire State Building area ("Herald Square" station, 1 block east of Penn Station), the D is only 6 stops to The Stadium. If you're on the east side of Manhattan, and choose to take the 4, it is only 5 stops from Grand Central Station. About 15-minutes travel time on either.

5) The Newark "PATH" to the World Trade Center is about 20 minutes. You can get off at Journal Square, in Jersey City (2nd stop), the hop on the 33rd Street PATH to get to midtown. PATH from Hoboken to 33rd St takes about 13 minutes and from Hoboken to World Trade Center about 8 minutes. JC to WTC varies, depending on where you leave, same for JC to 33rd St.

Destinations - PATH - The Port Authority of NY & NJ

Hope this helps. I'll be back, most likely, with more as I think about it. OH, I know, if you can, take a Circle Line cruise around Manhattan. You won't regret it, I promise!

Is it easy to take a train from the Philly airport?

Easy? Yes. The local transit authority, SEPTA, runs trains from the airport to 30th street station in Philly every 30 minutes from ~5AM to midnight. This is about a 25 minute ride, costs $7 each way. From 30th Street station in Philly to Penn Station in NYC is a 1 hr 20 min ride on Amtrak, but the Amtrak ride will set you back $36-$70 each way. You can also take slower local trains from Philly to NYC for only $24 each way, but it takes about 3 hours and is not as comfortable as Amtrak. Last option would be to take one of the deluxe buses (decent seats, outlets, free wifi) from Philly 30th Street station to NYC for $10-$14 each way.

So if you want the quickest, most comfortable option, it would add ~$45 and 2 hours to each leg of the trip. Take Megabus or Bolt Bus from Philly instead, it adds about $20 and 4 hrs to each leg of the trip.

Any more questions specific to Philly-NYC just ask or PM me.

Perhaps you've looked already, but many very nice hotels right in the prime Philly areas can be had for these dates for $120/night or so.

Looks like we'll be at the Embassy Suites in Secaucus/Meadowlands. There's a New Jersey bus route that has a stop right across the street. For $3.95, they'll have you at the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan in 20 minutes (a block from Times Square!). Take the 4 train from the Port Authority ... $2.25 and 25 minutes later you're at Yankee Stadium. You seriously can't beat that.

Just want to clarify a bit...the 4 train does not run from Port Authority (only buses - located on W 42nd St and 8th Ave). The 4 train runs from Grand Central terminal (trains/subway access located on E 42nd St and Park/Lexington Aves). If you end up taking the bus into Port Authority, you're going to need to walk two avenues to 42nd St/6th Ave (Bryant Park), where you'll take the D train uptown to Yankee Stadium.

If you end up taking the train from Secaucus, you'll be going into Penn Station (34th St & 7th Avenue), where you can then walk an avenue east and pick up that same D train at Herald Square.

Have a good trip.

Right next to the LGA airport. What do you suggest?

LOL, ok, cab definitely best bet! If you do, however, head into Manhattan on game day, just hit either the D or 4 to Yankee Stadium, both are "express" lines. If you're at an "orange" line, but not a D stop, take the B to the next stop with a D then switch. If you don't get off, no worries, the B goes there as well but is a "local." If you're on the east side, with a Green line stop, take a 5 or 6 to the next "express" 4 stop and hop on that.

No mention on Saddle Brook. There was a cheap hotel there that I was looking at. Any help?

I'm going and I couldn't be more excited! Had to use up all of my hard earned Hilton Honors points, but we're staying in Manhattan through the 1st.

Hi Guys. Looking forward to a great game. Anyway, the email from Nuts has some great info and here are some other guidelines:

- While the Iron Bound section is a great place to go for dinner, I wouldn't want to otherwise stay in a Newark hotel. The airport hotel is fine I guess, but it's a relatively lousy area and so if you fly into Newark, you should strongly consider staying in either Secaucus, Jersey City or Hoboken. Try hotwire.com - I've used it a lot of times and it's really great for getting great hotels at cheap prices. Just go with at least a 3 star.
- To get to NYC from Newark, if you're going from the airport, there is a train that goes directly from the airport to Penn Station NYC. Otherwise, you can go from Penn Station Newark (don't get confused, there is a Penn Station NYC and a Penn Station Newark NJ) and from there you can take either NJ Transit (a "regular" train line) or the PATH train, which is like a subway. The PATH is a bit cheaper, but also takes a bit longer - 15 mins vs 25 mins.
- To get to NYC from Jersey City or Hoboken, just take the PATH, it's a pretty quick ride.
- To get to NYC from Secaucus, you can take either NJ Transit or the PATH, just like from Newark, but it's a lot closer to NYC.
- If you're going directly to Yankee Stadium from NJ, you will need to switch to the subway once you get in Manhattan. If you take the PATH, the subway you need to take, the "D" train is right where you get off in Manhattan. If you take NJ Transit, you would need to take about a 5 minute walk to get to the D train.

Feel free to send me a private message if you want more info, but it would probably be better to PM me at Scarletnation.com.

The M60 takes you to harlem which I know is next to the airport cuz it goes there. Just get off at 125th and lexington and catch the 4 there. The M60 runs for the most part on the interstate so it shouldn't take that long, like 15-20 minutes at the most, then you get a free transfer to the 4 to go to yankee stadium.
