Better quality of wins than the last season we had 9 wins. The ok state win and ksu win would IMO be the highest quality set of wins in one season in a long time. History is on the line today and this would be a huge step forward for the program in money recruiting etc

Rhoads had a program legitimizing win, but to go 7-5 especially with this schedule would be a program legitimizing season at this point in his tenure. *EDIT*....would need that bowl win and a 8-5 record to really be a program legitimizing season though. A bowl loss would take the air out of that balloon.

11 BCS opponents and ISU only had 5 home games in that span. 7-5 record would be a solid season for a lot of middle tier teams in that situation.

= additional respect for the Cyclone football program.

(Like others do) I usually check out the opposing team's fansite the week before an upcoming game. Most team's have been giving Iowa State some respect, for what the team has been accomplishing. I have found almost no one on the KSU sites that have been giving our football team any respect. KSU fans would seem to be fairly "full of themselves" right now. Pretty dismissive of the Cyclone football team.

I'd also list the Tech win. They had just beat OU and were ranked.

Iowa State: The team that broke Tech's spirit. They haven't won a game since.

Not surprised at this one bit. I've only met a few sane KSU fans while in Kansas City (and actually one in DC, surprisingly enough). They have as much of a little-brother complex as KC does...they belong together.

I'm 100% positive computers would put this team at 7-5 or 8-5 as significantly better than our 9-3 team.

We'll be ranked in the top 20 if we're 7-5, maybe pushing top 15 if we could beat a decent bowl opponent to go 8-5.

Our SOS is going to be #1 after today most likely. KU or UNI will be our lowest ranked opponent around the 60s. Almost every other team in the nation plays a team or two in the 70s or worse.

Often, but not always, that is a sign of player attitudes as well.

It certainly is with Iowa, the years the Iowa fans are the most confident are the years they most likely end up losing to ISU, sometimes losing big. The years they think ISU might win (two and three years ago) are the years they kill us.
