The entire team must play better defense or it will be a long year AGAIN. Scottie's D was awful. Lost his jock every time someone wanted to take the ball to the basket. Pitiful.

...well he's a sr. The bum will be gone after this year. Then you can find someone else to hate on.

I hope I don't need a jimlad for this.

Sorry to offend anybody but this fact definitely did stick out!

The whole team played terrible D. I watched McGee get beat and pull on jerseys a couple times.

I watched guards slice by Royce and he just watched.

Terrible effort from everyone, not just one player.

AND THE COACH

No help defense last night. We needed a kelvin kato down low last night to play help defense and swat some balls.

Do we need separate thread to call out on a player? Come on. We didn't lose because of Scottie's D. It was lack of team effort. Hopefully they will learn and improve from this loss.

In case you're aware, basketball is a team game....You win as a team, and you lose as a team...You also play defense as a team....

Asking him to play the point is ridiculous and falls on the coaches, not Christopherson. He can't play it on either end. Just not what he is.

I appreciate Scott for being a team player and trying to assume this new role, but I think it pretty obvious it is not working. He just isn't a point guard-- he just isn't strong or decisive enough when he gets to the paint. Even worse, it takes away his ability to get a rhythm going shooting.

Drake realized early that we were switching on all screens. They moved the ball around until they had the matchup they wanted against Scottie and went after him. We needed to quit switching and play straight-up with hedges on the screens. I agree - our help D is bad.

PLease post in one of the countless threads already started for the game.

Asking Scottie to guard the other team's PG is not going to work. It's not fair to him, because he is actually a decent defender when matched up with other wing players.

Scott did not play very good defense, but he got matched up with a power forward under the basket several times because of all the switches. Pretty bad performance all the way around, including coaching.

Exactly, this is not a player deal, this is bad coaching. Once the coaches saw we were getting killed on this they should have changed up they way they were playing defense but they didn't and Drake kept doing it over and over for easy baskets.

I agree, and I think part of this is Allen being hurt because he just doesn't have the speed and explosivness with his hip being hurt so Scotty is being asked to guard the PG.

Scottie's achilles heal has always been defense. The difference is we have now put him into to one of the more important defensive positions.
