Why don't we have a point guard or a true center? I really don't follow basketball recruiting near as much as football so fill me in. Did we miss on some recruits and just not ending up finding one? I don't recall anyone leaving the team last year. Was this just a MAJOR oversight by the coaches? Or did they just want these transfers so bad that they passed up recruiting other positions like point guard? Obviously the point guard position is the elephant in the room and I don't see how we got to this point.

PG: McGee and Sledge were recruited to play this year. McGee was obviously a "miss" in terms of being a true PG. Maybe he wasn't really recruited as one, but it was indicated as so here.

Center: Railey.

What was the names of those walk on point guards ion the past? Time for tryouts?

Once up court, we continued to try to go one on one.

It is hard to get good Bigs and good JUCO PGs. It is clear the staff missed on how soon the Fresh PGs would be ready to play. This roster was a mess when CFH took over and that takes time to fix.

It's Fred's second year and he wasn't left with a whole lot to work with so in time we will have this true point guard that everyone likes to talk about.

Time for Tavon to get baptized under fire. He appears to be the only one on the team to have legitimate PG skills. We will turn the ball over more and make some dumb mistakes but still better than our current options IMO.

He is Colvin ready.

Can yoiu imagine how much jumping up and down McD would have done coasching a pointl guardless team like we saw tonight? What about Tim or LE? Wayne might have watched in wonderment.

And I think our extremely weak non-conference schedule would be an opportunity to break TS in and get him acclimated. I think we are talented enough to over come some potentially bad play (growing pains) from him through the non-conference.

We don't need a center. We can definitely get by without a center if we defensive rebound as a team...and it seems that we have been focusing on that.

Our coaching maybe didn't think that a point guard who couldn't be a legitimate scoring threat was something we could use on our team, and maybe they are wrong. I love Tyrus McGee and Clyburn though. I'm not going to question taking those guys at all. Taking Lucious instead of another guard is what I question, but who knows, he's probably going to end up being another Diante circa 2010.

Lucious will be great next year and Naz or Tavon will be able to handle it after that. You do realize we returned three scholarship players last season and three scholarship players this season(that played,) one of which was suspended through this game?

The center position is fine. Royce will do a great job there.

The problem now is that especially with Allen being injured, we don't have anybody to break people down off the dribble. Scott has trouble getting us into the offense. Our offense is incredibly stale this year and once we actually play good teams it's going to get worse. That said, there is always hope that we can get better and gel as a team, or guys like Sledge and Allen can improve and help us get better shots for our guys.

This team needs a Diante (or Lucious) very, very, very bad. We don't have it. I got told I was jumping to conclusions when I said I didn't think we were a tourney team if Scotty was one of our best options at the point. That is not a recipe for success, especially in the Big 12. Unfortunately we'll have games like this, and probably multiple ones this year. Next year will be the year to look forward to, and honestly I think we'll have a good talent base built up at that point. I think it was a little too much to expect a super quick turnaround like making the tourney this year. Hard to overestimate the smouldering crater McD left behind.

To be honest I actually think we need to play Bubu more and use him like a Jacy Holloway. Don't need Bubu to score, just run the offense and play good defense.

Bubu is not the answer. He cannot break down defenses, and is too slow on both sides of the ball to be a starting point guard. As a true PG, he is not even as good as SC is as a PG.

The porblem last night was not PG play it was the missed free throws and our d. Scotty was in over his head on guarding their guys.

Scotty is not a starting PG. On a good team, Scotty is a 6th man type of guy that gives you some 3's but struggles on D.

The fact that he's our best option at PG tells you all you need to know.

Hopefully McGee can get some more time. He's better overall than Allen or Scotty from what I can tell.
