It was really good to see him coaching and helping Barnett on the sidelines. He had the headset on and was coaching and talking to Barnett frequently. Made me happy to see that after what looked like a mad Jantz last week after getting pulled. Lets hope Barnett keeps up the solid play. It'd be nice to have a QB for 4 more years.

After Barnett went down, this is all I could think of when Jantz walked onto the field. Jantz has the Ricky Vaughn thing going for him now and I mean that in a good way.

I too was happy to see him helping any way possible. Was definitely weird seeing him come in as the #2 qb instead of the starting qb.

I still think he is hurt worse than they are letting on, or at least the injury is effecting him a lot more than we think.

At one point the camera caught Rhoads talking to Jantz and after the exchange they both started laughing. I have no idea what was said, but that made me smile.

I agree. I also think we forget how horrible the line played in some of those early games. I'm thinking the UNI game when he was running for his life.

Barnett played awesome, but I still think Jantz is a good quarterback.

So do I. If he eliminated his turnovers, and was at 100% he would be a force. With running being such a big part of his game, the injury really killed his game IMO.

Watching Barnett run this offense will really help Jantz become a better qb. You really do learn a lot on the sidelines. Barnett understands how to operate.

This. Jantz will learn alot by just being on the sidelines and observing. I think next spring will be one hell of a QB competition!

This. Herman has been raving about Richardson's knowledge of the offense and I could definitely see a 3 horse race next spring.

Really hope Jantz looks at a position change if he doesn't beat Barnett out in the spring, and the way Barnett is playing right now, I think he's going to be the man next year.

Jantz's athletic ability is obvious, and he isn't at a point in his career where transferring makes much sense. Either at WR or Safety, I think he could be an asset to this team.

He is too good of a QB to switch positions. I understand he is very athletic and has raw talent, but I don't think a switch is going to happen. Not even if he doesn't win back the job.

I think this had a lot to do with it, he came off kind of like an ahole with how he acted after getting benched, I think he (and the team) know he's a better teammate than that . I'm sure one way or another the coaching staff let SJ know that he was still part of the team and needed to act like it whether he was the starter or not. I also agree that watching will help him continue to learn the system. I think more than anything being banged up got into his head and caused most of his struggles, hopefully this helps him recover and step up if called upon this season or at the least show up next year ready to compete for the job.

Barnett is more accurate and runs the Zone read very well. But Steele has a lot more physical tools than Barnett.

What we have seen so far is that Steele has a lot of potential but makes negative plays which he overcame in the three wins. But in the losses His ability is not great enough to overcome those negative plays by him or teammates. Sort of a feast and famine thing with Steele.

Barnett is more accurate on the short and intermediate routes and is able to sustain drives with the zone read. We have yet to see what he can do when teams take away the Zone read and he'll have to pass for us to win. Now that there is "tape" on him it'll be interesting to see how JB adjusts to teams game planning against the zone read. The low pass completion % is of a concern.

I had a sage tell me one time that....

You can NOT have enough quarterbacks or running backs and I think the guy was right on the money.

I think people talk about Jantz to WR because it is the most common switch for QBs. In this case, I would like to see it because 1. He is 6-3 and that puts him tied for 3rd tallest in the WR position behind 2 people I have never even seen play. 2. He is big, athletic and muscular.

He could be a great fade option when in the red zone. Like Blythe was.

No. Blythe was born to play WR. It was in his blood. Jantz is just too good of a QB to make a change. I don't think his days are numberd as a QB.
