The Associate AD replied to my email and here is what it said:
Dave… thank you for your email…I think that this statement from UConn accurately reflects the events of the evening. We all help that the young man makes a full and healthy recovery. Good luck to your team the rest of the way. Sincerely, Mike Enright, Associate AD, Communications

The costumed mascot for Iowa State University suffered a broken arm while in the University of Connecticut student section at Friday night’s football game between the two schools.

The student in the mascot costume was treated by the East Hartford (Conn.) Fire Department EMTs and examined by orthopedic doctors from both the UConn and Iowa State sports medicine staffs. The student was transported to the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington (Conn.), where he was treated and released and
was able to fly home on the school’s charter plane back to Ames, Iowa, following the game.

Officers from the Connecticut State Police immediately investigated the incident through a series of interviews with witnesses, including the student in the ISU mascot costume who was injured. The police determined there was no physical altercation tied to the event and no charges were filed. Instead, it was determined that the injuries were caused when the student in the mascot costumed tripped down the stairs. These facts were confirmed by the student mascot in an interview with the police.

In addition, there were no patrons ejected from the game because of the incident.

Officials from both the UConn and Iowa State athletic departments worked together to make sure that the student received the proper medical treatment. Before departing Rentschler Field to return back to Ames, officials from ISU indicated that they were satisfied with the findings of the police.

That's not true. I know of a few examples where the victim did not ask to have charges pressed and the police still pressed charges.
Please fill me in on the details. Here in Iowa I can't make someone be a victim if they refuse to be. A different charge could be made but not assault.

Here is the uconn ad's email...not sure what good it would due to send a bunch of emails his way on it.

[email protected]

Some of you others probably got a response too, but I got a form letter response from the Asst. AD basically stating their release that they found no foul play. Actually had a few small talk emails exchanged as well... never had that ever happen in a situation like this.

I still don't know what to think. Did anyone actually see someone push CY?

Goes on with the press release.

Is this story dead? I've seen the Uconn release but I've heard a very different version of events from people who were at the game.

Did anyone see marty tirrells classless tweet on the subject? I hope jp knows about this and gives uconn hell

JP has been notified by an ISU player`s mother who witnessed the incident. It was also reported to state police at the game, who declined to take action. The player`s mother was also threatened by the individual who shoved CY down the steps.

I honestly don't know why you wouldn't press charges. Multiple witnesses and medical expenses should be enough. It's unreal that UConn is making this look as if it were an accident.

This story is FAR from over. It will be interesting to see how much our AD pays attention and listens to what this players mom says.

I'm hopeful about coach rhoads comment on murph and Andy was saying a lot without saying anything. He just said "no comment" when asked about it.

To me if he is content with uconns statement/press release he says that but by saying no comment.

I truly hope our AD is being proactive. It should be an embarrassment for uconn that this happened.

Why did the student tell police that he just tripped, but later said someone pushed him on his facebook page? Are the police lying, maybe that is more of an issue.

No one has seen the kid's actual statement to the police. At least I haven't seen it posted anywhere. All we've seen is the UCONN AD's press release.
