How much money will we be losing if the big 12 breaks up. Does the remaining 5 teams or whoever does not leave get all the $$$ from the teams leaving? Also how does the television contracts work. Will we still get the $$$ from Fox and ESPN?

We have a very good set of coaches across the board, we have improved the facilities, are starting to turn the corner with better athletes. I just hope all this does not start to go backwards.

No, if ISU does not land in a major conference we are in serious trouble. We will not be able to meet our coaching contract obligations and bond obligations for facility improvements and recruiting will tank. The University has millions of research dollars at risk as well.

We will sue the crap out of people if we get left out. Gaurantee it. Too much money guaranteed to us from contracts.

Yes, we will survive.

That wasn't a serious question, was it? What do you think, ISU is going to just close up shop?

Take it in context. We have a lot of $$$ invested in coaches, bonds for facilities, etc. I did not mean the university would shut down. Look at our contracts for coaches. Do you want to lose any of them?? When was the last time fans have been this excited for our fall and winter sports at the same time.

Really it is a shame that now all of a sudden Texas will share some of their revenue from the LHN and rename it, this could have been done and the current big 12 would still be in existence.

It will be a big blow, but SMU, Houston and others have been through this before. You don't close up shop, or shut down your FB/MBB programs. The city of Ames will feel it as well, but it will survive.

Education is a booming business and will probably continue to be so.

If the league falls apart wouldn't it still make the most sense for the 5 remaining teams to re-build the conference with the exit money and tv contract as enticements? Wouldn't we be able to attract almost anybody we wanted with that going for us?

According to the ISU Athletic department, the MWC and WAC pay out $2,000,000 per team.

ISU would have to ask coaches to take big pay cuts and risk the obvious chance that they will leave, cut the number of teams and cut facilities.

If UT/OU/A&M/OSU/Tech leave, I'm not going to hold my breathe that the TV contracts wouldn't be voided.

Also, if Mizzou decides it has no other choice but to follow A&M to the SEC, then they have a majority to disband and there will be no buyout.

And Dan Beebee will be available to lead the new conference. He has proven experience with leading a conference.

Jact Trice goes from 50K fans to 25K fans / game. Think of that lost revenue.

Plus you will not be able to attract the same athlete as we do today, the product ISU can put on the field goes down substantially.

Not to mention that ticket prices would have to drop alot as well.

If we lose big time money, we are going to be hurt. Paul Rhoads is going to be in demand. Hell, I think he has been in demand before. He is bigger than some crappy conference with Iowa State, Kansas, KSU, Cinncy, and Louisville. Frankly, Rhoads deserves more money than we are paying him. He certainly won't get a raise in that conference.

The part that sucks is that we are finally getting good and now everythign is going to go to hell.

ISU atheletics is going to go down the crapper, unless GG can get us into the B1G

Yep....and it is not as simple as Iowa State being a great team in the crappy Big East/Big 12 hybrid. We would be a great team if we were in the Big 12 with the big 12 resources. But we wouldn't be, we would have crappy resources.

We need a miracle. The good thing is that if anyone can help us it is GG and Pollard. I have no doubt they are working their butts off to try and help us. Thank god this is happening when both guys are still here.

Serious question..... how does Boise State do what they do in football?
