*****The Super, Mega, Huge Big 12 Expansion Thread*****

Who cares what the perception is. Seriously everyone is butthurt over a university doing what any other university in the Big12 could do. Tell me what they've done that is so atrocious? They have been trying to keep OU here. Seriously someone please list why TX is so bad.

Dude, UT and their greed is the entire reason this is all shaking out. It is also the root cause of UNL and CU leaving last year.

Yup, the LHN is what is preventing the Big 12 network, which has ripped this conference apart now.

This and ALL media threads are speculation. We have no idea who really is meeting and what they are talking about. We do not know if they are burning bridges or patching things up.

I believe in JP and GG. As long as we land in a BCS, as I believe we will, we should not see a large drop in revenue. The big XII starts the fox contract next year and the BE starts negotiating a new one this year. We made 8 million in tv in last year or so. The new fox contract does take care of that. We may not jump up to the sec, PAC, or ten numbers immediately, but we won't fall into an abyss.

Their greed? explain please. UT entered in to a deal for their 3rd tier rights...same as we have with Learfield. Only their's is with ESPN and getting a crap ton more money. If we had as many followers Learfield would have their own network too. Take a look at the numbers...we've had for the past few years been getting more money than TX for our 3rd tier rights.

Who voted on this? It was approved by all the universities. TX has ONE vote same as us. So please tell me specifically what they did is so greedy. Would you say Ohio State is greedy? Their 3rd teir package was for over 100 million and that was a few years ago. Didn't break up the Big10

A valid argument has been made that those left in the Big 12 could use the TV contracts to add a few more members and keep the revenue stream going. By the time the contracts are up for renewal the newly formed Big 12 could have great credibility and considered a stronger conference. Teams like ISU just need to keep beating their non-conference opponents like Iowa, UConn, etc. That increases the perception of conference strength.

IMO, a couple of teams like Louisville, and Cincinatti along with possibly BYU or Pitt. And Memphis has been chomping at the bit as well wanting to get in a bigger conference. Some nice population centers there. And Louisville used to compete with Drake in the old MVC for years. For travel purposes I would really like to add Cinci, Louisville, and Memphis. And what a conference for basketball as well.

The best strategy is for Texas to stay, along with TTech, KU, K-State, Mizzou, ISU, Baylor, and add teams accordingly to get to at least 10 teams.

OU and OSU will find they have a logistics nightmare playing all the west coast schools.

I'm starting to see more about big 12 being rebuilt. I like that. Screw the south schools, let em go. Go grab new members and set up a equal tv revenue for all schools.

Are you volunteering to pay the exit penalty?

This thing just needs to happen already, its like waiting for an A-bomb to be dropped by the plane hovering above Ames. Certain teams are holding the door closed keeping us out of the bomb shelter. I wonder if our attendence will be very high this year for football and basketball because people now realize what we have, and that we in danger of losing it...its true that you really don't know what you've got till its gone.

I don't think anyone had a problem with the LHN until they began the attempt to broadcast high school games.

Well obviously this only works if the Big 12 falls apart. I just think it would be exciting to see new venues and new teams. The tradition of the Big 12 is already toast.

Playing the same 9 Big 12 teams, UNI and Iowa every year gets REALLY boring. Im ready to mix it up. Play in a conference that we have a chance to win (by that I mean a conference that you have divisions so all it takes is winning your division and then winning a title game). Get back to 4 non conference games.

And Nebby left cuz they can't beat TX. They were the proponents of a weighted distribution of TV funds. They even had plans for their own network. CU left cuz they thought Mizzou was leaving and Nebby leaving was going to leave them out in the cold if the tX and Oklahoma schools went to the Pac10.

FSU forming committee to explore conference options | CollegeFootballTalk

Andy Haggard, chairman of FSU’s board of trustees, told the Palm Beach Post Tuesday that the school is in the process of forming a committee (not pictured) that will explore FSU’s options as it pertains to future conference affiliation. Those options would apparently include remaining in the ACC or moving to the SEC if enough conference dominoes tumble.

Here we go!

Exactly stormin!

I think their are quite a few schools we could look to add who would jump at the chance.

I thinking a harder look needs to be taken at future state. How does a schools popularity increase in a bcs conf? I think adding tcu and Boise st would be beneficial to both sides.
