Voices from the Stands - UNI ed.

I heard a guy mention that Iowa State looked like last year's Chicago Bears last night. A QB with a great arm, running for his life, making questionable passing decisions like Cutler. Great defense. Ugly looking game. But, still enough "something" to win the game. He wasn't saying we had pro talent of course, just that the similarities where there, which I agree with.

In football yes, not nearly as much in basketball. D2 teams beat D1 teams in basketball on a regular basis.
Regularly? I don't think so. Occasionally, maybe. I know Syracuse lost to a D-2 school in an exhibition recently but if the game "counted" it would never have happened.

I heard someone yell "Put in tiller" in the student section I hate idiots in the student section.

UNI fans started doing "thats another UNI first down" a tonnnn during that super long 3rd quarter drive, thats expected though and we'll probably be hearing it next week too..
A fan in front of me (a Nebraska fan?) mimicked the siren flawlessly, in fact the first time he did it he kept doing it after the siren went off and I didn't realize the actual siren had stopped for at least a minute, it was F'ing hilarious, that being said he started doing a go big red chant.....

I was sitting in section 17, and the guy with the vuvuzela-like horn was on the edge of 18. Event staff was trying to take the horn. The guy with the horn was kind of belligerent, and suddenly there were 5 security/police men there. The crowd all started booing the security people and chanting "We want the horn!" This was all happening when Shontrelle was down injured late in the first half. By the fourth quarter, the horn was back and the crowd was loving it.

I was on the other side of the stadium watching that and I thought people were chanting "we want blood". Haha. Your story makes a lot more sense otherwise we have our own roman colloseum

I too was sitting in section 17, row 1 actually, and had been wondering what had happened. Sitting that low, by the time we heard the commotion, we couldn't see what was going on as there were a ton of people in the area. I just saw two cops running down from the concourse and two Iowa State Patrol running up the stairs. The Patrol must have jumped up over the fence to get in the stands, as they had been down on the field.

Some dude walking down the steps in our aisle with one of those bottomless popcorn containers. The t-shirt shooter shot one off and it landed in the popcorn and spewed it all over the place. The guy started cursing at him and then went got security to try to do something. Security was like "dude, it's a bottomless popcorn what's the big deal". He kept going off, thought he might jump the fence.

Don't know if he got the shirt though.

Haha, you must be RIGHT by us...that happened 3 ft from us. Or the tshirt gun claimed two victims yesterday. Except he told us the shirt hit him in the head. It was hilarious to watch.

And we got the tshirt.

We were sitting in row 30(last row) and about halfway through the 4th quarter a couple of drunk UNI fans ask where row 32 is. They show me their tickets and I try to explain to them at least 10 times that their seats were in row 26 SEAT 32. Their response every time was "nah dude, look, it says row 32" and kept asking where it was. They ended up just standing in the aisle for 5 minutes or so and left before the game ended.

After Jantz threw that 4th and 10 pass, I caught a Tshirt and immediately put it on. Next play, UNI scored, and I took that **** off. That was not a good tshirt. Ended up throwing it into the middle of the student section after we tied it up. I feel sorry for whoever caught it.

Also as I was walking out:
UNI/Hawk fan- "At least I can go to bed 100% confident that Iowa will come in here next weak and steamroll them. They're gonna win by 40"
Me-"What makes you say that? Iowa didn't play well at all today against Tenn Tech and you guys are way better than Tenn Tech"
UNI/Hawkfan: "It doesn't matter. They're gonna run all over you."
Me: "Well I don't doubt they will win, but Coker didn't have a good game at all. Can you name one actual reason Iowa will win by 40?"
UNI/Hawk fan: "We suck and you guys barely beat us you are going to lose by 40"

At that point I was pretty frustrated and told him that he was talking a lot of **** for having just lost and that we should exchange phone numbers and put down a $100 bet that ISU doesn't lose by 40 to Iowa. He then informed me that he didn't have $100 to bet (he was a college age kid like me) and proceed to walk away.

Post some funny/interesting things you heard from the fans (both Cyclone and Panther) from the 20-19 ISU win on Saturday night.

I'll start with this gem...

A UNI fan stands up in the 2nd quarter and screams "THROW A FLAG, THEY CAN'T PLAY THE MUSIC THAT LOUD WHEN WE ARE AT THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE!!"

We had 4 clueless twits, sitting in front of us. When they were cheering after an ISU player was hurt, an older guy 2 rows in front of them stood up, turned around and chastised them not once but twice for their unsportsmanlike behavior. Hell, later they cheered on a penalty thinking it was against ISU and they didn't recognized it was against UNI.

They tried to stuff an additional two guys, meaning 6 people in 4 seats. The family to their right didn't say anything but the total of six were right on top of the family's installed seat cushions. I went to the bathroom and on the way back told the head usher about 6 into 4 seating and he cleared 2 out.

Near the end of the game when it looked like UNI was to win the game, then the intelligent one of the group started running her mouth when UNI scored with 4:13 left in the game.

They all left with time on the scoreboard, apparently to go fix their hair or makeup as they thought they still were in high school, it seemed.

They were trying to take a fans horn... apparently they have sat in that section for several years and had a horn that they blow... around sec 19 I believe... and the crowd was chanting we want horn... we want horn.... we want horn... and they gave it back... A buddy that sits in that section said they tried to take it last year to.. but gave it back... Im sure someone will know more about the situation...

I used to sit about 10 rows down from that guy. I'm all for people making noise but the sound coming out of that horn made my ears bleed.

Is it just me or does every part of the student section have at least one obnoxious drunk girl yelling incoherent profanities after every play?

Some student was allowed to bring in about 1000 keys on a giant keychain, but a vuvuzala (sp?) wasn't allowed?
