Hp Touchpad Firesale

"We have received unprecedented orders as a result of the tremendous discount offered. This is clear confirmation to HP there is huge interest in building a webOS community. "

With how many of these are about to be in people's hands, it almost makes you wonder if they'd reconsider their decision on webOS (or given that statement... maybe they are looking at that). Is this many people buying it enough for a huge kickstart for them apps-wise and such?

I am reading, maybe incorrectly, that HP is working with the retailers so that they make good on their commitment. So the BN and Onsale groups should be able to honor their sales with the help of HP. I am hearing they may give some pre sale buyers part of their money back (after Jun 16 or so).
Wait...I'll have to wait a whole year to get my money back!?

I ordered at 11:40 Iowa time, has not been canceled yet.

Mine was ordered at 12:04am and haven't received cancellation either... I'm hoping I'm good with B&N at least...

Interesting to hear the idea that HP may send OnSale and other dealers their remaining stock to keep people happy. I have no doubt that this big surplus in their sales and with this many flooding the market that they will at least try to sell the rights to WebOS to a third-party. I personally have thought this may have been the driving force all along...

haha, I know that was a stress filled 120 seconds.
Couldn't help it.

That is very odd... Why would two of us that ordered after you not receive cancellation emails already if you saw yours just hours afterwards?

That is very strange. Do you have a barnes and noble account or did you check out as a guest?

I ordered 2 from onsale and 2 from B&N...all separate transactions and haven't gotten a cancellation email. I've gotten order confirmation emails for each but no shipping confirmation on any of them. If I bat .500 I'll be happy.

looks as though the "set" re-sell price is $230 on amazon, for the 16mb. Not too shabby of an investment for those of us who bought more than one... assuming they do ship.

The crappy thing is that you are rewarding a person that took the inventory away, and more than doubling their money. No thank you.

Just checked my order status on B&N...

"Unable to process order. Please call 1-877-379-0036, or 212-414-6024, if outside U.S."

Tried to call that number but, as expected, they are "experiencing a high call volume, please try again later".

Oh well, worth a shot.
