Knowing the band there will be plenty of self-policing and mocking to take care of that behavior in short order.
I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. It very well could be he was having some anal leakage issues that day and didn't want to ruin a good pair of shorts.

I used to be in the ISU jazz ensemble. Bothered me too. Can you imagine what would happen if Sam Richardson showed up in a promo video wearing hawk shorts? Or even Univ of Florida shorts? Wouldn't happen. I emailed the band director and suggested he offer some advice to the members of our fantastic (yes fantastic!) band.
Good lord! When I was trombone section leader, if I saw that I'd demand the kid go turn his shorts inside out for the day. Believe me- back in the day the band put a lot of effort into brainwashing everyone into HATING "the ducks." Still hasn't worn off for me...

If you were a big Hawk fan, why would you even want to be in the ISU band? I don't get it.

I had a guy in my section one year who transferred from EIU for like textile design or something along those lines. Was a big hawk fan and had marched there too. Came to ISU because we had by far the better program. He marched because some people are that much of band geeks that they really aren't there for anything to do with the athletics (That's a very very small percentage though, the majority of the band members are the most loyal fanatical type fans you'll meet). That guy enjoyed his experience so little that he only made it a year before he dropped.
But either way you can bet your *** that anyone who shows up in hawk gear gets chastised all day.
Another question is why even include it in the video? You gonna tell me the person that put this together didn't see it? You can cut and paste whatever footage you'd like in something like that yet they chose to include a close up of hawkeye shorts?
Edit: BTW - I think our band rocks so I'd hope this doesn't turn into a band bashing thread because of one idiot.

I was about to say this too. Terrible editing by whoever did it, it is to promote the ISU marching band and right there in plain sight is a pair of Hawkeye shorts???
It's bad enough that it's included. What's worse is that when the video window loads (before I click on it to play it), that's the frame it's showing. Not sure how it decides which frame to show, but that's embarrasing.
