I have heard the media day clips of CPR on radio indicating he expects to have decided on a Quarterback by 8/20.
That is the same date as the Gridiron Club's private practice and tailgate event. I understand Paul will be talking to us as well, so I was wondering if any insiders knew if that is where the announcement would be made.

BTW - I believe they are also firing up the scoreboard, for the scrimmage so it should be a good time. Seems like the perfect time for any non-members to sign up for the Gridiron Club and fill that football void we are all feeling.

Good to hear that he won't be waiting until game day to make the quarterback decision. By that point hopefully there is a clear leader.

I think that CPR will definitely name the starter on 8/20. Whether that starter remains the starter throughout the season depends what happens on the field. I fully expect at least 2 of the QB's to play against UNI. And possibly all 3 top candidates. I expect Sam Richardson to redshirt.

IMO, I think that Tiller has the edge in starting. For no other reason than he has started before. I believe that he will be much improved over last year. Whether that is enough to keep him starting over Jantz or Barnett is another matter.

I'm thinking they will go with the guy who is better in every single area, except knowing the playbook. Hes also had time to learn more of it now, Jantz should have the edge.

Jantz already has said(at media day) that he would be ready right now. I like his hard headed attitude. I would rather him say "I'm ready now", than "Oh i have a few things to work on." Go get em' Steele.

I'm expecting Tiller and quite honestly I'm ok with it.

We need to support whoever is under center.
No doubt we will support Tiller if he gets the job, but if he doesn't show up against UNI, you can expect about 45 threads about putting Steele in.

I might avoid this place if that is the case (which I know it will be).

I'm holding out hope that JB or SJ can win the job but if JT is infact the starter I will support him and the team as well as the coaches for their decision.

I learned my lesson last year when AA was struggling I was vocal about giving JT a shot. When that did infact happen it was obvious that AA was superior to JT when it came to offensive productivity and the ability to score points.

I guess thats why CPR and his staff are where they are and not me

I just still don't think they brought Steele a JUCO in to sit. Rip me all you want, but I just feel like this staff really wants Steele to be the man. They are going to make him earn it, but I just feel like they want him in there. I feel like they have seen enough of him on tape to see once he gets an idea of the offense he will be the guy.

I wonder what will happen if Steele isn't what everyone was thinking. Will people still yell "put Tiller in?"

What happens if Barnett starts?

This is my opinion.

If Steele isn't what we thought, then i believe we would call him a recruiting bust. And i would call for Barnett before Tiller. If Barnett gets the nod, i'd be exicted. Thats possibly a 4 year starter correct? I'd take that.

Watching him on tape against JC competition is alot different than the B12. There is no doubt they brought him in hoping for an improvement in the QB postion, but if nothing else he hopefully will push Tiller and make Tiller a better QB.

I'm convinced a few on here (Rustshack for one) will go berzerk if Tiller is named the starter on the 20th. That is ridiculous. Give the kid a chance. He has earned that as a model student athlete so far in his time as ISU.

Barnett is not out of this either.

How long are you willing to go with that though? How many games do you let him go if he continues to struggle? We can't let him go 3 or 4 games into the season sucking. That would make our bowl chances go Bye Bye.

Bueker has been a model student athlete too and I'd have a **** fit if he was the starting QB. Tiller's had chances and the offense has looked good 10% of the time with him taking snaps.

IMO Tiller isn't that bad of a quarterback. But then again, I'm not the coach and I don't see him every day.

Even if he isn't what people want him to be, hes still our best chance to win this year.
