It sounds like Dolphins have landed Reggie Bush, they'll soon have Kyle Orton most likely, and already have Brandon Marshall. Has this team just now become a contender?

I think they're only a few missing pieces away from pulling this together....

Reggie Bush does not make a team a contender. NO won in spite of Bush, not because of him. He has so many holes in his game he is sutational at best. Orton is the same way.

Being a dolphin fan I would like to think so, but they still play the Jets and Pats twice a year

Look at Orton's numbers the first half of last year. He was much better than most people remember.

Bush simply cannot run up the middle and when he does he'll get injured. He's not an eveydown back. They should just turn him into a Percy Harvin type guy and forget the running up the gut with him.

Kyle Orton is a very good QB. I don't understand how he wasn't thought of as the #1 available QB? McNabb is 34 and Hasselback is 35. I'm a fan of Hasselback and not so much of McNabb but they are near the end of their road and I'm guessing have 2 years tops.

Orton is only 28. Has had two back to back good years. It's not his fault that the Broncos allowed more yards and points than any team in football last year. And why is there so much love for Kolb? What has he proven in this league?

I agree. I do not get all the hate on Orton here. He is a guy from this state that done very well and made this state proud.

And this is why I said contender and not a sure thing winner. My 49ers were suppose to be a contender last year - looked how that faired out.

I don't think Bush is any more of an upgrade over Ronnie Brown and Reggie Williams, but Orton I think does provide a bit more consistency at the position....

We'll see I guess....

I seem to agree with the OP on this one....not sure bout no super bowl quite yet...but the offense will be more dynamic and explosive....

Super bowl quarterbacks: Rypien, Humphries, O'Donnell, Chandler, Dilfer, Collins, Johnson, Gannon, Delhomme, Grossman are you seriously saying that a guy like Orton cannot lead a team to a super bowl?

Had a young defense that ranked 14th in points allowed....their problem was offense.
Onto the offense....lets look at what they have:
Qb - Orton is a quality guy with good leadership that can make all the throws...is this the right system for him?
RB - Ronnie Brown and Reggie Bush, pretty dynamic playmakers. I think Ronnie comes back - and they have 2nd round pick Daniel Thomas from KSt.
WR - Brandon Marshall, lets not forget that Marshalls break out season was with who as his qb - thats right orton.
WR/TE - throw in emerging Devone Bess and Anthony Fasano and this offense has some serious playmakers.

I think these are two moves that vastly improve the offensive capabilities of the dolphins. That said, they still play the pats and the jets, but, in my opinion this would give them the 2nd best qb in that division behind mr brady....

Orton likes to check down to his RB's, therefore him and Bush are a great fit. I could see Bush getting 6-8 catches a game

B-b-b-but he didn't go to Iowa State! He hates us! He turned his back on us! Whaaaaa!!!!!:mad:

In all seriousness, as a big Dolphins fan, I'm happy with the Bush pick-up and I would be ecstatic with getting Orton. Anybody but Henne. I would take whoever ISU's 2nd string QB ends up being over Chad Henne.

Orton does not make you a contender.

We've got bush! We've got bush!

Orton by himself does not make them a contender but, Orton with Bush plus their other backs, and Brandon Marshall make them a contender.

I know your comment was in jest. Hey he didn't go to Iowa, he went to a school with an offense that fitted his abilities perfectly.

Just for clarification, if I'm born in the same state as another person, am I obligated to cheer for them?

No. I'm just saying that Iowa isn't a state that produces lots of of pro talent so when someone flourishes as a pro why must some from this state **** on them.
