Anyone have any recommendations for a contractor to handle a bathroom remodel? Live in Warren County, but I'm guessing someone from the Des Moines area would also be willing to make the drive down for the work. The skills needed consist primarily of carpentry, plumbing, and flooring.

If it was me, I'd hire the three separately rather than hire a contractor, if you have time to coordinate. Bendon does a lot of plumbing work for me, and I like them.

I'm starting to think that hiring them separately may be the way to go. Actually the way to go would be to DIY, but unfortunately I lack the needed skills...

Let me know how this ends up for you. I'm in the same location and looking to do the same thing.

Thanks!

Get your contractor first. Nothing else matters if you don't get the right guy there. When you feel you have the right contractor, ask him for recommendations on preferred subs to do the plumbing, tiling, etc.

IF it were me, I would hire the plumber, and DIY the rest if you have the time. There is plendy of how to do videos and articles online. You would save a bunch and it's nice to learn the stuff that goes with it. I was very unskilled but ended up redoing most of my basement due to tree root flooding and knowing how to do that stuff may come in handy down the line. Just a thought.

I'm looking into adding a bathroom to my basement. I'm looking at having a plumber do the rough-ins for me and doing the rest myself. Anyone know what a plumber would charge for that?

Just sent GoCubsGo and GeronimusClone PMs. I know of a couple guys that I would recommend for your projects that could give you estimates on that.

One thing I found out in Des Moines is that it is hard to get a good electrician, plumber, and HVAC people that are reliable and won't overcharge. Luckily I have finally found all 3 and gladly refer business to them as I surely will need their services again at some point too.
