NFL: McNabb to Minnesota

I like it, although I think it's a move 2 years to late. Having a QB like McNabb should prove to at least make the Vikings competitive in the North, even against the Lions. I just hope this keeps Rice in Minnesota.

At least Ponder doesn't have a problem with it. He has a good attitude towards this.

He just dodged a bullet this season. He was lucky to get a copy of the playbook after he was drafted, but he hasn't had the time to work with the coaches or offense to figure out the nuances. I know they said he was a fast learner, but 1 month to prep for a season where he has to play the Super Bowl Champs twice, the NFC runners-up twice and the up-and-coming Lions twice is not enough time.

This. The Vikings shouldn't be counting on McNabb being a dependable starter for any more than three years, and I don't think they have in mind anything otherwise. Ponder is simply not going to be ready to start in year one. McNabb can start from day one in Minnesota, and let Ponder learn with clipboard in hand.

This would have made way more sense two years ago before the Wranglered-one arrived. It will be good for Ponder to learn from him, if Ponder is indeed our future. Need to let AP drive the offense and hope Harvin is available all year long. McNabb has a lot of game left with the right team.

Where did Childress come from again? Wasn't he his offensive coordinator for a number of years?

I hate the Vikings.

Yes, Brad Childress was McNabbs O-Coordinator in Philly. But Childress is no longer coaching in Minnesota - it's Leslie Frazier. Frazier was D-Backs Coach in Philly early in McNabbs career.

IM A PONDER GUY.. watched him at FSU, screw the old QB's, let go with ponder and win.... he's accurate, smart and doesnt fumble... unlike mcnabb and farve

Vikings fans:

This is a great move.

Look at Favre with the Jets. He had no weapons and had a bad year. He still had something to prove and had all the right weapons and in 2009 they were one bad call away from the Superbowl.

Now McNabb last year still completed 60% of his passes with no running game, no viable deep threats, and terrible player/coach relationships. He has a chip on his shoulder, has a great running game and if they can keep Rice and keep Harvin Healthy, he has viable receiver options.

I'm not saying Vikes will be superbowl contenders, but they definitely will be the team with the greatest upside in my opinoin. Vegas has them at +6.5 wins so if I was able to make a bet, I would definitely bet the over.

How is the o-line looking for the Vikings? I know McNabb is tough, but he's also getting kinda old. Just a thought. As a Vikings fan, I like the move overall.
