***NBA Draft Thread***

This draft was downright hilarious. The looks on all the faces when these names came up were priceless. Everyone started laughing at these picks. Thought Bilas was going to start crying. If it doesn't go down as the worst draft in history, at least it will always hold the title of the toughest to pronounce.

Ok well at least KUclone can justify the .3 ppg pick

I know nothing about the guy. But the Lakers aren't actively trying to fail; they must have seen something they liked. I'm just explaining to you the basics of the NBA/D-League relationship, which somehow you're still not grasping.

Hearing that Phoenix, Cleveland, Charlotte and New Jersey are all offering Diante Garrett guaranteed money as a free agent.

Excellent news. Granted, I'd prefer it if my Bulls were in that list... but c'est la vie.

One of the only mildly intelligent things the ESPN announcers said all night was, once they got to around pick 50, somebody said "At this point, you'd almost rather not get drafted, and have the chance to choose a team as a free agent, instead of getting tied to one team". Here at least Diante could potentially choose the best fit for him, and his hard work seems to be paying off and will give him that opportunity.

I was getting a little frustrated with all of the throwaway picks at the end, though... The logical part of me wants to believe that there must be some financial reason for doing it with the lockout looming.

Line of the nite was from Jeff Van Gundy. "Why are the team executives clapping when the pick is announced? They already know who they picked." I was thinking the same thing right before he said, which made it that much funnier for me!

Why the heck was Josh Harrelson(sp?) drafted??? He had a few good games in the NCAA tournament and that is it for his whole career. He is just a big, slow unathletic overachiever who will never play in the NBA.

You may be right, but I think it had to with the huge improvement he made between his jr and sr season. He went from a nobody to contributor on a final 4 team. I agree with you though, he won't be in the NBA long but I see it as a team hoping he can keep improving.

Look at what Brian Cardinal is doing, giving hope to slow, white forwards everywhere.

Van Gundy had a few good quotes. Did you hear when he was trying to pronounce a player's name? He was struggling and ended up saying, "that big Lithuanian" Hilarious.

I think DG can play in the NBA. In only 1 year under Fred DG improved tremendously. Hopefully Fred's NBA contacts will get DG a FA opportunity. I still want to do bodily harm to the Deputy Commish for toying with our emotions on that Orlando pick. Who's with me? :jimlad:

THAT'S why the NBA draft is a joke and only weirdos like Blum enjoy it. After the first round, it gets so stupid with foreigners that it doesn't make any sense. They either need to eliminate the second round or give teams a couple more roster spots for a practice squad, where players can go down to the D-League and back up still keeping an NBA salary.

Some of the best players in the NBA are foreigners, been true for decades.
