NFL: Owners prepare for 8-game season

Well i guess an 8 game season and then playoffs is better than nothing.

If the NFL doesn't start until November, I hope college football can somehow get a game or two on Sundays in September into October

I'd put money on that happening if the NFL has a short season.

Me too but only if the NFL comes out ahead of time and says under time tables they can't realistically start until November. That will give college conferences and TV time to start tinkering with schedules and putting together a plan.

Obviously the Big Ten and SEC probably wouldn't be interested - they are pretty set in their ways with schedules - and Notre Dame and BYU wouldn't be interested. Conferences like the Big East, Big 12 and Pac 12 that are more flexible with their scheduling would be game...the Pac 12 has already hinted at it.

thats a lie.

Not at all. I follow the NFL but I prefer watching college football and it isn't even close. Then again.... with the seemingly drastic increase in cheating and college players getting paid under the table college football is quickly becoming like the NFL in my mind.... A bunch of money hungry folks that don't care about anything but themselves and getting paid. Very sad.

I'm planning on going to the Dolphins @ Chiefs and Chiefs @ Bears. I'm still very confident that a deal will be struck on time for there to be a 16 game regular season. Even if it has to be pushed back a week and we miss a few Pre-Season games.

Fantasy football is my favorite thing about sports...if they F with that, I'm going to be ticked. I hope fans try to boycott in whatever way possible. Probably won't amount to much but ultimately fans dollars are whats at stake.

Me too. I know I am probably in the minority, but I'd be fine with no season and let the aftershocks settle.

My take is this is still posturing by the owners. They don't want to shorten the season but who will be hurt more...the players or the owners? The players will definitely. Too me this just seems like a way to apply some pressure to the players "union"

Eight is:

Better than a 4 game season and playoffs.

Better than one and done and the playoffs.

Better than the playoffs done through a lottery.

With 8 games, fantasy would be a 6 week season and the two weeks of playoffs during the regular season. Thye better skip the exhibition season.

Pathetic. Boring. Disrepective of fans. Chinzy. Chizlickistic.

Guess we better do several fantasy college football teams this year.

If it is eight games, it will be interesting to see if teams are rusty or not 100 percent and there's more parity and basically the playoff spots are totally up for grabs.

My money would be on no season at all.
Hardball is in full force on this one.
