Report: Jim Tressel resigns

Re: Tressel resigns

WOW. I'm legitimately stunned. I thought he would make out like a bandit throughout all of this.

Kind of refreshing to see that college football does have a limit of **** you can get away with.

Dear God, don't let them come after Rhoads. This is a Top 5 program. Praying for Urban Meyer's return to coaching.

All that means is that there will be an entire football season's worth of speculation surrounding who OSU will hire as coach.

Exactly. I would assume that if this guy can rally the troops, he'll get a good hard look.

If I was a Nebraska, Wisconsin, or Iowa fan this news would make my year.

I'm calling Nebraska v. Wisconsin in the first ever B1G Championship game. The players will be completely confused as to who is on their team.

Re: Tressel resigns

Everyone knows we were the stepping stone that Auburn told Chizik he needed before he could get the Auburn job. They weren't going to just give it to him without any head coaching experience. If this was the Pitt job (again), I'd be a bit more concerned, as there is prior history there. There is no prior history with OSU for Coach Rhoads.

I'm enjoying Bruce Feldman's time on SportsCenter. Some good insights, but one statement that struck out as a little too apologetic for Tressel: "Whether it's fair or unfair, this (dishonesty/cheating) will be a big part of his legacy."

Yes, Bruce. When people cheat and they are caught, that becomes part of their legacy, because they did it.

I understand all of this, but as Great White said "once bitten, twice shy". I realize it isn't likely or logical, but it still scares me as an ISU fan.

I'm just happy for Gordon Gee now that he doesn't have to worry about Tressel firing him. :jimlad:

I guess it's not really a surprise. Tressel beat it out the back door before the NCAA drops the hammer on tOSU. He looks bad now, but he'll resurface somewhere else.
