People on their board seemed to think his was an early candidate but nothing came of it.

a good friend of mine had 2 sons who both went to uni and while going to good old uni they both had...

Yea, I can't stand UNI either. Their fans act as though UNI is the most prestigious basketball program in the state and that gets under my skin.
If jacobson did accept and leave, look for Keno to reach out to Troy Dannen. I know Panther fans would want the asst. hc promoted but Troy marches to his own beat.

I wrote earlier in this thread that I'm a dual ISU/UNI fan (from Ames, got my B.A. from UNI back in '97), and as a UNI fan I won't and can't deny that there do seem to be quite a few UNI "fans" who fit the description above. With that being written though, why does such a vocal minority of Cyclone fans fixate on this and seemingly always mention this anytime the letters UNI are brought up?
Next time me get all ****** off at Hawkeye fans for commenting on how "obsessed" we are with them, remember the posters in this thread commenting about this subject.

Whose obsessed? I have no idea what that even means...
I am making the observation that I actually don't mind UNI, but the uni hawks that seem to make up 97 % of their fanbase really takes the edge off of getting behind them and actually rooting for them.
Read what I wrote, a former STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT, so someone who benefitted from their time at UNI, wore inmat...er u gear to a UNI-U game. Read their little panthernation site, it's either that 06 guy from here running back and tattling on these mean Iowa State fans from CF. or it's idiots like 9yr, or stein, or canic, or the ones that have hawk in their names.....who are ALL iowa first, but deign to lower themselves to root for little ol' UNI. But if someone says anything bad about the u, they are there to defend their real favorite team.
I get that with the limitations with their numbers in their fanbase, that they need every little fan they can get, but until UNI can get away from that, then nobody can ever take them seriously. And that is sad, because they should remain pretty damn competitive in basketball for at least the near future.
Actually, I was answering ol Chippewa there. BUT, I did think it was funny that you come on here, and then run back to panthernation to tell them that Iowa State fans were talking smack about the football game in the Fall to try to get everyone riled up.
I have also read your opinions on Fred Hoiberg on the same site. Yeah, I am making incorrect generalizations:skeptical:.
Of course you may very well be that same uni hawk that prevents the Panthers from ever being taken seriously in this state.
As far as the other people I mentioned, we can continue to add to the list. Hell, even Gonzo comes on here as a u fan, NOT a Panther fan, and he sits and argues with many of the worst u worshippers on there.
My favorite is when they talk down to uni fans everytime something negative is written by an actual uni fan (all few dozen of them). The best is when it is something that is truly scandalous, like signing Hubbard or all of the football felons. That is ok, but talk about the ISU basketball transfers, and it's like reading a u board (well beacause it is).
I like to read about UNI athletics, Ames did a nice job with that site. But you really have to sift through piles of hawk **** to find any info about UNI, and it is supposed to be a UNI site.
by the way, your comments about Panthenation pretty much refer to about a handful of posters that support Iowa. Is there not Iowa fans that post here? Is it not allowed for posters from other schools to post on this site? Is inter-fan talk not allowed on message boards?

The funny part is that I wasn't the one saying that I hated UNI, though there are plenty here that do (of course they are hating hawk fans, not those "tons" of "real" panther fans). I was actually saying that I could root for UNI, except 98 % of all of the UNI "fans" that are hawk fans, if not first and foremost, then at least also (see comment about former student body president rocking the hawk gear when they played UNI).
Then I read your site for actual information about the Panthers, and anything that has anything to do with the main sports have lots and lots of pro hawk bias. I don't even care about the anti-Iowa State stuff, it's a UNI board. BUT, there have been probably a MILLION conversations about the "dual fans."
Where you cracked me up, was the thread you ran over there and started about how Iowa State fans thought that they should beat UNI.
As far as your attempt at slamming this site, I would caution that there are MANY MANY MANY fewer threads and topics on PN as opposed to here. The fact that I have to take more time to get through stuff because of the "dual (read HAWK FIRST) fans" than I do on here with many more topics, is a real indictment of the shallowness of the UNI only fanbase.
BTW, glad to see that A&M went a different direction.
