Since we drove to ISU to bring James some things and see the game we just got home recently, but wanted to thank the people of Iowa again for making our weekend an enjoyable one,and ISU has the greatest fans and also it was great to finally meet you Ron.There was a post on here insinuating that myself or someone in our family posted it,but like i said before if we have something to say we will use our name to do it. The poster asked how we thought James did, come on he is our son he did great(LOL). But seriously we thought he did some things good and some things he can improve on.The one pass over the middle app 25 yds that hit the receiver right in the hands,to bad it was dropped we think showed his arm strength which some on here have doubted. Some on here said he will always be a backup,I don't know thats for others to decide. We saw throughout the years what he is capable of,is it good enough for the Big 12 I don't know.Anyway we just wanted to say thanks to all of you for making us feel like part of the ISU family. Hope to see all of you soon especially when you come East to play Connecticut.

I think James has some potential from what I've seen of him. He seems to be able to move the ball down the field at least anyways, of course I don't know if he's been tested by a good defense yet. Anyways I think it is possible he could be a starter as a junior or senior, but he will have a lot of competition.

Mr. Capello, I'm very glad you enjoyed your visit despite the weather. Best of luck to James and the rest of your family.

Oh, hows your other son the linebacker doing. Was he a senior this year?

James impressed me. He's still young and raw, but he showed flashes of high-caliber play that I'm excited to see in a young player.

Also, someone on here noted that James led as many TD drives last season as Tiller. It's a wide open race and I'd love nothing more than to see a young guy go out and just own the position.

Too bad it was so freaking cold and windy out. The prior two weekends were both in the 70's+. We wait all spring to see these QBs throw and then we get pretty much the coldest, windiest day of the whole month for the Spring Game. Ugghhh.

TC, Glad you had a good time, thats quite a drive. I wasnt able to stay the entire game, but thought the reports and insights about James are pretty accurate. He may not be the flashiest guy, but he proved is more than just a game manager or more than a guy that is just out there to not lose the game. IMO, A lot of our losses have come from the defense being put back on the field after less than a couple minute rest. James definitely appears he can move the chains. Like others have said, the QB spot is tough spot right now with players on campus, and recruits coming in, but you have proven to be a team player and will always be welcomed in S6. Woodies dad and I are in the same industry, and he stopped by last year too.

How did James' younger fair in collegiate offers?

Thanks to all of you,i wish the people in Pa were this kind. James younger brother has five offers on the table to play football but we think he has lost his drive after one recruiting trip where they lied so bad to him,and he is seeing what it takes from James to just try and stay competitive. Someone is going to lose out on a monster at linebacker. Thats why I always say Rivals is a joke. This kid put so many kids in the hospital, then when the game is over he participates in the school musical. He is truely in the mold of ISU linebackers but that is another story.Anyway thanks for asking he has to decide soon the colleges are getting tired of holding a scholarship for him. Go Cyclones

James' play has already been good enough for the big 12. See the Utah game from last year.

Utah's not big 12, but is PAC-12 now. And a quality opponent at that.

ISU FB is all about continual improvement or development. That's all a player can directly impact.

Good enough for a Big 12 starter? Time, opportunity and competition will tell that story. And of course, coaches opinions and evaluations.

You ARE part of the ISU family!!! Once a Cyclone, always a Cyclone!

Best of luck to James. Hope he can work his way into a starting job.

I hope James keeps working hard and makes a push this summer. It's apparent we don't have an elite QB on campus currently so he could still very much be in the mix for the job.

Seems like a good, hardworking kid. You need guys like that on your roster.

Another poster bet me to it. You are part of the cyclone family. I'm looking forward to seeing who is going to win this battle at QB. My thought is if you have the same guy basically at QB one is a JR one is a Soph or Frosh as long as the leadership is there go with the younger candidate. This will prove beneficial for years.

And ISU has a great walk-on program. We also have a history of giving scholly's to high performing walk-ons. It would be great to see your kids on the same field at the same time

The Spring Game was just that - a Spring Game. But anyone that thinks the QB race is only a 2 man race came out of that game knowing that the QB race is more than that and Capello is in the mix.

This isn't a QB controversy - it is an opportunity for for all the young men involved.

Capello looked confident and solid in the contest and earned consideration. From what I hear the kid can be the big cheese or a great role player. He has reportedly been the kind of person you want on your team - whether he is a superstar or the third string punter - because he makes his teammates better, by being himself and leading by example.

Obviously he has good family and they want the biggest and the best for him. But no matter what the future holds, James is becoming a big part of Cyclone Football and is learning from the best, and smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity.

James & family seem to be hopeful but grounded, optimistic yet realistic, and great additions to the Cyclone Family. Basically, they rock.

My take is James did very well Sat., played as well or better than the other 3 QBs. I was surprised at his foot speed, much better than I expected. Hang in there James, you just never know in football.
Is your younger son being recruited by ISU and if so is he interested?
Great to hear you enjoyed yourself and come back often.

Hey, as of now 1,531 people read your message, only 14 answered, now 15.
I saw the game but went back to look at the video.
James had sustained drives and scored 13 points on his drives.
He did not have the "LONG BOMB", so what, he didn't have any turn overs either.
I see him as of now #2, but I'm not the coach.
I don't get caught up in the JCC hype.
The best man should play, it's not about popularity, skill.
James reminds me of Doug Flutie, he was not their starter for BC, I think he was #3 pre-season. Proof that when the call comes you'd better be ready.
So James be ready.

I hope you have a great summer. I hope James continues to work hard in the classroom and the training sessions. Fall will bring opportunities and I hope all the players are ready to make the most of the opportunities. I was impressed with James in the spring game. He moved the chains, which is very important. He had dropped passes, as did all the QB's. I trust the coaches to put the best guys on the field.

I hope if your younger son gives up on football because of recruiting, he will consider ISU and think about walking on. If he shows up to practice and works with the same attitude and conviction James seems to have, he may very well see some time on Saturdays. ISU has been very good to walk ons. Besides, you would not have to choose where to go on Saturdays if he follows James to Ames.

Thanks for being part of our ISU family and posting here to express your feelings. I always enjoy reading your comments, even if I do not post all that much myself.

Love it when we get input from player's family members and when former players join us as fans on the board. With CPR and the stadium improvements it's an exciting time in Clone country, and would love it if another Capello joins the Cyclone family.

Thanks for your insight and knowledge of the game. James is not 6'5" but he sure seems to be able to move the sticks, and he does not get rattled very easy. In high school he had to run for his life every play. Thanks again

You should be extremely proud of your son and he should be proud to be a QB in the Big 12.

ISU fans will never forget Marv Seiler.

James may be the next Marvelous Marv. It won't be against NU but it could be against another team that is ranked #7 in the nation at the time. He just has to work harder each day and good things can happen.
