Jon Miller

I don't read it that way at all. Why hammer a guy for telling it like how most of us see it? Unless you are one of those "dual identity" fans?!

I just don't think Ferentz is a bad guy. I don't hold him responsible for every incident that has happened off the field during his tenure. Every program has issues with players getting into trouble. Ferentz isn't some evil mastermind like cyclonestate78 makes him out to be.

All the best,

Are you kidding me?

I would probably go ahead and self remove that post.

Bill Fennelly once gave my daughter an ISU t-shirt while we were tailgating. He left his tailgate party, walked up to her out of the blue, said hi, and told her he hoped she was having fun and gave her a t-shirt. Maybe I should write a full page devotional to him.
Is your daughter abnormally tall? :biglaugh:

I don't thik Ferentz is a horrible guy either, but the way JM is painting the picture, KF can do no wrong... and the fact that JM cannot accept any other opinions of KF is a bit childish..

CyJack.... try to follow me here.

We can all agree that some of the issues that Iowa has had in their football program have been handled in a very poor manner. It isn't acceptable that 13 players are hospitalized after a workout, it isn't acceptable that the son of the highest paid employee in the state of Iowa is living in low income housing, it isn't acceptable that the star defensive player assaults a cab driver causing injury and receives no punishment at all, etc... These are issues that the buck stops with only 1 man and that is Kirk Ferentz the head of the Iowa football program.

What he did for that family is a good thing. It absolutely was. Does that now wipe out all of these other things that he handled poorly or just flat out didn't handle at all? Well... if you are Jon D. Miller it does. It makes everything Kirk does defendable. It makes everything the players at Iowa do defendable. It makes the bogus press conferences that Iowa runs everytime another major issue pops up defendable.

Sorry... but in the world we live in it doesn't work that way.

I think KF is a POS and here is why

  1. His kid lived in low income housing and he claims he didn't know...c'mon
  2. He gave good recommendations for a couple of rapists. Said they were good guys. This alone makes him a POS
  3. The way he handled the Rhabdo incident
I agree he isn't responsible for a lot of the things that go on with his players. But the above three make him a POS in my book. Actually, #2 makes him a POS in my book. The other two are icing on the cake.

I normally do not post things, but recently a friend sent me this link, which is a Jon Miller essay about how wonderful Kirk Ferentz is.

Here's Why I am an Ardent Ferentz Supporter - HawkeyeNation Forum

After reading it, I added a post on hawkeyenation under this thread stating:

"Every college program does service work for the community that the university is located and every coach does special PR for deserving families. It is wonderful that this special attention was given to this deserving family, but please do not make Ferentz out to be some sort of saint..."

Within minutes, my post was deleted from the thread and when I tried to log back in using my log on, I received the message that I had been banned for no specific reason and the ban would never be lifted..

I could see this type of action if I was inflammatory or inappropriate in some way, but for giving an opinion?

I guess Jon Miller never wants to hear anything negative about his idol....

The limp d#ck banned me from HawkeyeNation (now HawkeyeReport) 10 years ago.
He's a complete putz

It's his business. He's entitled to publish whatever happy horse poop he wants.

Duck? BTW, I'm pretty sure doing things like bypassing the language filter would get you banned from here eventually.

Ok, I agree he could have handled the Rhabado situation much better, and Clayborn should have been suspended for a game, not disagreeing with that. As for Ferentz's son, he was living with other football players right? I don't think it's his responsibilty to check out if where his son was living was low income housing or not. If he had went the other way, and rented his son a nice, huge house more appropriate of Ferentz's income, people would have criticized him for that too. Ferentz's son isn't the one making several million a year.

How about him giving a good recommendation to a couple rapists? That alone makes him a POS.

The only good reason to visit HN is to read (not post on) the meltdowns. Right now their basketball recruiting is comedic gold. Some of the Cyclone fans get in the way, and need to post much less.

Who did he give them a good recommendation to? I've never heard that.

Well he/the staff gave Satterfield a good recommendation to Lou Tepper. Which is well documented. I believe he gave the other rapist a go ahead as well. Said he would take Satterfield back if he could and that he was a good guy. Led Tepper to believe that the charges would be dropped.

Ferentz himself encouraged the victim to file the complaint"informally." That is fact and is in the investigative report from the incident.

In short, rape is a very serious and disgusting crime that will live with the victim forever. Every single thing Ferentz did in handling that case is disgusting. From giving both rapists good recommendations to encouraging the victim to file an informal complaint, to having players clean up and move back into the room.

I have zero tolerance when it comes to rape situations but even if I had a little, KF went beyond.

Meltdowns are fun, but they also usually have some funny off topic thread. OKeefe4Pres posts some of the funniest stuff I have ever read on message boards, grade A material. Duffman is good for this too.

Okeefe4Prez is one of the most full of **** posters I've seen in awhile.
