**** me. At least it's now and not in September. Both pitched really well their first start and this Wells injury came out of nowhere.

This sucks. I say try Wood back out at starter.

No way. He'll fall apart, keep him in the rotation. Coleman will be up and I think Russel will fill in as he was getting a look this spring.

Dang it, Wells and Cashner both threw really well too.

Wood won't start again, too big of a risk that he'll get hurt pitching extended innings again. Coleman will fill in OK, guessing maybe Thomas Diamond might get the other call up or Samardzija will get a couple starts. In the past Sean Marshall might fill in the other spot but he's been too good out of the pen I doubt they mess with him just to fill a couple starts.

Cubs have the next 3 Thursdays off little rain here and there and they may only need 4 but looking at the pen nobody has started in quite awhile So they may call up 2 starters. By the way using Wood is a lousy idea.

Wow this sucks. Both Cashner and Wells pitched really well. Dempster, Zambrano, and Garza really need to step up. I was not impressed with all three in their first start.

The off-days are a blessing. can get by without too much missed time. Coleman will suffice. Could be worse. hope they come back strong. My thought is the cooler weather wasn't good on them, first start since AZ.

With the split with Silva, and all his talk about how he wasn't willing to just be an insurance policy...of COURSE this happens to the Cubs.

As long as they are able to go after the DL stint it shouldn't be a big deal. Sometimes these things can linger and/or get worse though.

What a "Cubbie Occurrence." The Cubs dump Silva and trade Gorzelanny because they have an abundance of starters and then this happens. In addition, Jay Jackson, another top pitching prospect who'll be in DSM this year, is injured right now. I would guess it's going to be Coleman and Russell, with an outside chance of Diamond or bringing back Todd Wellemeyer.

Luckily Coleman was actually pretty good last year. He'll have a good chance to be effective, particularly since the wind tends to blow in early in the year.
