Kale Abrahamson

He does not have the quickness to guard a three? I disagree, especially if he ends up over 6-7.
I penalize him for having trouble guarding the two as much as I would a pg or shooting guard not being able to guard the three.

We do not have many other options for a season two years away? Ridiculous statement. We have several options left for 2011, let alone 2012.
We have what two options for 2011 in Pierre Jackson and Olu Ashaolu correct? And for 2012 right now all you hear about is Okoro, Niang and Abrahamason. We really haven't heard much about Cook or Dingle. Several options for 2012? Who?

Defensively, he'll have issues guarding a guy like Kris Middleton from A&M or a JP Olukemi from Oklahoma State, but those are the types of guys he'll be matched up with (obviously not those guys, because they'll be gone, but that type of player).

At this point in basketball, I don't know that you can really label a guy as a conventional 3 or 2. Guys are essentially wings that lean more toward or away from a perimeter player. Abrahamson, though 6'7"-6'8" is more of a perimeter type. Ejim, at 6'5", who also is (allegedly) a wing, leans more toward the skills of a post player. The fact is, with some development, these guys are interchangeable and that is why they're valuable.

I'm of the opinion that you need multiple guys of variable skill between that 6'5"-6'8" range to give your team versatility on both ends. Conventionally, Kale and Ejim would both be labeled a 3, but obviously both offer different skill sets and different talents, and that is why you need multiple guys in that height range and skill level.
I agree with everything in this post.
Additionally, there are just as many players in the Big 12 that struggle with those guys as not. If Kale ends up 6-8, he has as good of chance as any non-blue chip recruit imo.

There is tremendous value in having a 6-7 to 6-9 SF that can shoot, handle and has sufficient athleticism. Like you pointed out, his value is enhanced due to a lack of roster redundancy.

Obviously we have more guys on our radar for 2012. It's a little naive to think we're seriously only zeroed in on three guys for that class. Just because we may not know the names doesn't mean there aren't plenty of options out there that I'm sure the staff is evaluating.

I think the question comes down to is he better than Jok? Even though they are a class apart they'd fill the same role, Ejim's replacement. If not I don't see him getting an offer before Peter picks a school.

Read what Swarthmore and I are saying. Kale, Jok & Ejim all offer a different type of talent and different type of skill set. If we can add Kale & Jok and even Okoro, I say do it. Jok & Okoro have more similar games, but again, versatility and depth are critically important.

I think what we have to remember with Kale is that it's not as easy as just offering. With Horner as his coach, I'm sure Fran and Jeff are bombarding him with hawk propaganda on a daily basis.

Are we still considering 2011's Montray Clemons and David Bruce for the Eric McKnight scholarship?

You should add Cook as well, fact is we don't have room for him. We need two SGs and a Post. He doesn't fill any of our 2012 needs.

He doesn't have an offer from Iowa, either.

I've only seen him play once and he did not look like a HM talent, but my scouting abilities are questionable at best.

I think Okoro is more like Jok, but Okoro, Kale, and Jok would be a great unit.
I do think we need a true guard (1 or 2) and post in this class, but perhaps we will be getting that from outside the high school ranks.

Why can't you do it? Kale & Okoro are '12 prospects and that still leaves an open scholarship with the potential of five post players already on the roster (Booker, White, Godfrey, Railey, Ejim), and then if Jok commits for '13, we still have plenty of open scholarships to fit needs.

Why would you want Kale? He will turn out to be a guy like JVB who most people hated by year end because he had no inside game, just like Kale who only can shoot the outside shots. If you put him down low against guys like the morris twins he will not be a help much. He is not like HB who played high quality teams in AAU basketball. He is like Mcknight who had potential but left because he does not have the right body for big 12 basketball. We need to pass on him and not waste a scholarship.

The point is we do have room for Kale, because he offers as much and fills needs better than Cook. Imo, better than Stauskas.

we disagree on this point. During the 12-13 season we'll have Babb and Ejim to play the 3 plus hopeful Okoro as a big SG that can also slide over. I don't see Babb playing much 2 in Fred's system , we want to run and 2s that handle like a PG and shoot are what he covets. I think Fred will add a Tweener with shooting skills in the near future just not in 12.
I've seen Jok play and he shot as well as Abrahamson's video.

We're all just guessing but my prediction without any defections our 2012 class will look like this.
Wing-hopefully Okoro
Banger w/ low post skills- Naing or Dingle
SG w/ deadly range much like Scottie (Staukas did fit the bill)
