Did anyone else see this show last night? Great show by the Murphy's. The other bands might have been good too but I (and 80% of every person there) didn't get to see them as i was standing outside in line in the cold for 2 hours. The people who run the Val-air are beyond inept.

You can thank the folks that made it possible for nearly everyone to carry guns on their person in this goofy state for the awesome lines.

Yeah, because the sort of people who apply for licenses and carry responsibly are the ones who think that packing a gun to a Dropkick Murphy's show is a winning idea. Why not blame the hardware store two blocks South of the Val Air for the lines: that store sells chainsaws, and the owners of the Val Air can't allow chainsaws into their building for safety reasons?

Loved the concert, hated the line. I've been to four concerts at Val Air, and each time I've run into something new to make me angry. I strongly doubt I'll ever see another concert there. They bring in some great acts, but I feel it's because there's virtually no other venue in town that's able to handle the capacity that those acts require.

This was my first time seeing Dropkick Murphys in person, and I wasn't disappointed. Man, they know how to play to the crowd!

I wonder if part of the problem isn't the feud going on between some of the "blue-haired" neighbors and the Val-Air management? Maybe they're being more careful screening customers because they know that the busybodies will report them if the sound levels go one mouse fart above the approved level.

The problem was having only 3 people doing the pat downs, and and reserving one of them for just females. It was ridiculously bad planning on their part. Several of my friends that had tickets just gave them away and went home after standing in line forever.

I assume the reason Against Me played such a long set was because Dropkick wanted to give more time for everyone to get in before they started.

Great show though.

Great show. I saw them 2 years ago at the Val Air and it was just as good. One of the things on my bucket list is to see them in Boston on St. Paddy's day.

I'm glad I just happened to get in the line on the east side. We waited about 45 minutes in line and the people who were walking in at the same time from the west line said they waited 2 hours.

Have they had alot of trouble with chainsaw violence?

Nope....pretty sure it's the awesome new gun laws.

Yeah right. Why doesnt wells fargo or any other venue in the Des Moines area have problems getting people into shows with the new law. Hilton had no problem, House of Bricks had no problem, Nobody else. Just the Val Air. For them to blame the new guns laws is silly and stupid. Nobody could get in because they had 2 people patting down like a couple thousand people. Rediculous.

Wells Fargo - Numerous spacious entrances
HOB - 250 cap
Hilton - *see Wells Fargo...also, there are shows at Hilton?!
Val Air - One entrance, everyone came at once, narrow stair/hallway that limits the amount of security that can perform necessary pat-downs, capacity crowd, (I believe) first sell-out crowd since awesome new regs took effect.

I don't see why they couldnt have used the back doors as an entrance. To have a show with 2500 fans and once entrance was a joke. The security as a whole was pretty bad there, in fact the band was so fed up with them they kicked them off the stage and had their roadies handle it the rest of the show

Easily the best show I have seen in the last year. I was one of the early liners so I go in for Off With Their Heads and Against Me!, as well as the Murphy's all 3 ruled.... I even entered the pit for Murphy's which was insane.... I am definitely getting too old for that stuff but it was worth it to let loose....
