Meyer's replacement

I nearly shat myself when that play went down. I can't think of any other time we've successfully run a trick play like that.

It might have been the best pass of the day.

They should have run that play in a situation where there was a chance to score on it not when you are in the middle of the field. Great play still but it would be more of a surprise if you run it in a situation where a more traditional play is expected.

We needed a spark at that point in the game. Who knows...if we don't run that perhaps that drive stalls out right where we were. And...another important part - the fans needed that play.

Meyer isn't slow, we could've scored on that play from there. The thing is, not all the Texas players bit. That's what happens when you have some talent that is disciplined on defense.

Plus, how often were we in a scoring position?

Actually, the middle of the field is the perfect place to run a trick play. It's just sad that Texas' safeties are that much quicker than our skill players that a play that should be taken to the house results in only a 15-20 yard game, a result I assume Texas will take every time on a trick play. I mean, the same thing happened with that Statue of Liberty play. The safeties were completely faked out but were fast enough to limit the play to a 15-20 yard gain instead of a touchdown. Trick plays were meant to score points, not get first downs.

I liked it, it looked like the team was having fun right there and I was thinking we might be able to get back into it.

Blythe looked like he was having a good time, shaking the rust off the old wing.

LOL, ok I love some of these responses. Yes I like the play, it was fun but come on "It's just sad that Texas' safeties are that much quicker than our skill players that a play that should be taken to the house results in only a 15-20 yard game." Give me a break, we were in the middle of the field and Meyer is not all THAT quick if you haven't noticed.

I was just saying, how much more effective could that kind of play be if we were inside the 20 or 30? It probably would have been a touchdown because you usually don't gamble on trick plays as much when you get in scoring position. Boise St. sure did well with them in their bowl game.

I'm hoping for an onside kick against OU. Of course, it will have to be either the opening kickoff of the game or third quarter since we won't score any points, but I'd like to see it. I believe McCarney did that against a highly rated Nebraska team(hard to believe, huh) in the late 90s and we recovered it.
