Never can have too much ISU MBB discussion. I copied and pasted this from CR. Thoughts?

Elgin Cook 6-6 Forward

After only one game, broke his wrist. He looks to have better size and handle than I thought. But his shot is a question. I think he plays the 4 on his team- reminds me a lot of Rashon Clark.

"Elgin is so athletic," Diener said. "We've got to find someone to rebound the basketball without him."
"The injury came one game after Cook, a first-team all-area pick last season, opened his season Saturday with a 21-point, 13-rebound, four-assist showing in the Wildcats' 67-58 victory over Menomonee Falls"

McGee 6-2 190+ combo guard

Reminds me a little of Anderson. Maybe not as well rounded, but a better shooter. Interestingly, he averaged 36 points a game at a small school high school in Oklahoma, and had two teammates that ended up with BCS scholarships (one with Washington St out of high school, the other is CJ Washington who made it to OU after dominating JuCo). With it known he was not going to qualify, McGee signed with Tulsa out of high school. He currently plays combo guard in JuCo, but had 19 assists to 4 TO in his last 4 games. The links below are various threads about McGee on an OU board over the past few years.

Anthony Odunsi 6-3 200

Not sure what to think about Odunsi. A lot of signs point to him being a top commit. Targeted him early, offer from BCS program (Vanderbilt) sophomore year, plays top level of competition, commitment to basketball is high, smart, Big 12 ready body/athlete, a linked article below says he played well in a match-up against a UT shooting guard commit...yet not the accolades or hype as the others. Is his shot that poor, or is just that he does not have a true position?
With three starters off last years team, it appears like he is playing at a higher level this year. 19 pt/pg and a Tournament MVP as his team's Jake Anderson. Plays with the Harrison twins (a pg and combo guard) who are both early top-10 2013 recruits.

The first video below has been on CF a few times, but he is in the blue shorts, and going against Penn from Ok St.

Tavon Sledge 5-9 175

Small, quick, and explosive. A good pick-up. At this level, that size requires great instincts and a good outside shot- translating his half-court game in high school to college may be a process (again, my opinion only). Of note, he was teammates last year with Tobias Harris, 2nd in scoring and rebounding for Tenn as their starting PF.
Again, I am betting most have watched thee clips before. If not, the best way to identify Sledge is to look for the quickest guy with the best hops...and also probably the smallest.

I'm liking the new kids coming, I hope they mesh well with this years "scout team". I think one thing we can count is an upgrade in athleticism. The really nice thing will be even though we lose a lot of expereince, these young guys will have guys around them with plenty of games under their belts. We have the potential to be very deep next year.

I hadn't seen that last highlight of Tavon Sledge until now. All I can say is WOW at 0:40. That kid is FAST.

Sledge is going to be one fun SOB to watch.

He will be. I hope he is working on the outside shot to keep the defense from playing off him.

Sledge, McGee, Odunsi, even Bubu- it is going to be interesting to see who starts next year.

I think Odunsi will play more as a freshman than Sledge. Just a gut feeling.

wouldn't be suprised if all 4 are coming off the bench. Scotty, Babb, and Allen at the guard spots, then Ejim and White at the 4 and 5. Would make for a nice deep bench.

Mcgee is tearing it up this season. There is still some question as to whether he can be a PG at the Big 12 level, but he is definitely a scorer and apparently a great shooter.

With 3 proven elite college shooters on next seasons team (SC, CA, and CB), and one elite shooter at the JC level (Mcgee), another solid one in Ejim, we could have one of the best 3-point shooting teams we have ever seen next season.

We're on pace to have one of the best 3 point shooting teams in Iowa State history this season!

Surprised? No, but I do not think it is likely.

Too little ball handling and size with that line-up imo, plus having 3 of your best players out of position. We are going to sub, so might as well keep guys were they excel.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

JVB for a 6th year?

Not possible, but that line-up would kill from deep.

I think you're both right, but I think that next year's team should be a better-shooting team than this year's squad.

Babb will probably be coming in off the bench at SG and SF.

Didn't The Mayor mention he could play a little of Ejim's current role? We will not need him to, but if we wanted to go real small and open things up.
