MLB: Cubs close to signing Kerry Wood back!

we'll take all the help we can get in the bullpen. the last few years have been ridiculous

I dont believe it.

I'm a huge KW fan and have seen him asking 2 years at 6-7 mill per.
There is no way the Cubs can afford that.I wish they could .

i could really see him taking a big hometown discount to come play for the cubbies again. he loves the cubs, and the fans love him. makes all the sense in the world if he's looking for more than just money

So you guys want to pay a setup man 6 mill per year?

I love Kerry but the Cubs dont have the cash.
Ricketts needs every dime for future marketing...or whatever he's calling it .

I couldnt be happier if true.

I've had my heart broken too many times........................................................

Marshall and Wood as setup men would be awesome.

But since we are talking Hot Stove Cubs, I have a few more things I'd like to see:

I really want them to sign Brandon Webb too.

Then, if the talk is true and the Yankees are seriously looking at trading for Zambrano I say trade him for Brett Gardner or Nick Swisher and a top pitching prospect. I'd prefer Gardner and the prospect because it would give us a true leadoff guy. Bye Bye 18 mil per year Z salary.

Last thing on the list would be to find out how serious KC or Tampa would be about trading Greinke or Garza. We have the prospects to get a deal like that done.

I would love to see Woody back if the money is right. I think Ricketts realizes he needs someone to be the face of this team. While that's never been a set up man, it could work in this case. It would be fun to see him back.

Hopefully the rumors are true and the Yankees take Big Z. That would clear up a ton of cash. While I'm sick of seeing the Cubs overpay for every player they get, I would rather overpay for a player who is a fan favorite and had great success last year than a time bomb waiting to explode on the field or in the clubhouse.

I think the dugout is the place the Big Z is most likely to explode. That's where his most legendary exploits happen.
