Myself and some buddies went to Jethro's in DSM tonight... two of us went for the challenge. I honestly have no clue how ANYONE does this. 15 min is all you get to eat this monster....

I was going really strong and really though I had a great shot at taking it down but then about 3 min to go I hit a WALL... felt miserable.

The waitresses did tell me I was closer than Man vs. Food guy so I guess I have some pride in that. Only 4 people have ever done it so I guess im not too suprised I dropped the ball:skeptical:

A friend of mine is one of the four and he did it in like 9 minutes... I would love to try, but pickles make me instantly puke so I'm out right there...

Good effort though, you look miserable

That thing is monstrous! I know there is no way I could even come close to taking it down. How's the belly feeling now?

Belly is feelin better after the drive back to Ames... coating the stomach with some keystones for the last half hour and its feeling pretty good

I honestly feel I would have had a shot at it around freshman year of college back when I was a big fat fatty... sadly, I weigh about 50 lbs less and really don't have a stomach for it anymore. Probably for the best though.

And, congrats on getting that far. It's a beast of a sandwich.

Maybe if I fasted a day or 2 I might come close but I've seen that thing and it's a beast. I remember when Trophies had the burger challenge where it was a 2 pound patty that the burger was as big as the plate. Had 15 minutes to eat it and drink a beer and just cutting it into 1/4ths still made each piece look like a meal!

You're topping that thing off with Keystones? There is a solid chance you are going to need stitches once that mixture of garbage starts to pass.

Actually more than 4 people have done it, they just didnt keep track and take pics until recently. My friends and I will have to go back to get on the wall. The worst part is it is sooooo hot that it takes forever to cool down, my mouth was burnt and hurt for over a week.

What's all on that plate? How much is it?

The Adam Emmenecker

The Missouri Valley Conference Most Valuable Player of 2008 loves this sandwich. It's big... "really big..." just like all of those "really big" shots Adam sank in the Bulldogs' magical MVC Championship Season of 2008. Start with our huge pork tenderloin, add our Angus steak burger, top it with slabs of Texas brisket, apple wood bacon & fried cheese, finished with buffalo chicken tenders. We smother this mountain with melted cheddar cheese, and white cheddar sauce, serve it with your choice of side. This could hurt you! A sandwich fit for the MVP. 19.95

My heart cried reading that :wideeyed:

Are you sure its not "Keith Stone" ?

I am not sure how anyone could eat this...I was very disappointed in Jethros in my one and only visit. Quantity was great but quality was very poor. The brisket was rubber-like and laced with fat...kind of like partially-cooked bacon. Not much smoke flavor and appeared to be pressure cooked. Has anyone else had this experience? There have to be better BBQ places in Des Moines...any suggestions?
