So I heard something at the MBB game that got me thinking on Sunday afternoon. Scotty was introduced as a senior. I know it is his 4 year in school but he redshirted. Do they typically call redshirt juniors “seniorsâ€￾ or is he going to graduate and head to the real world. Maybe this is why the door has been opened for 4 signees?

that's interesting. I could definitely see him packing it up after this year. He could possibly have enough credits to graduate. I mean he is strictly a SG. This year all he has to share time with is Demarcus. Next year he will be competing for time with Chris Allen, Chris Babb, Phillips, and Odunsi. Someone is done after this year, unless Hoiberg is just trying to be proactive and expecting someone to quit after looking at the trends of the past few seasons at Iowa State.

My thoughts exactly. I love Scotty, but maybe.....................I just do not know why they would announce him as a senior if he is a junior unless it was a mistake. I will be paying attention again Wednesday night!

The only person I see in that list that would play for sure ahead of SC is Chris Allen. I think Babb and Scotty and very similar players. I am really excited to see how Scotty plays this year, and would be dissapointed if he were to leave after this year. I think he will play a prominate roll next year, even if we are very deep at SG.

I just think Hoiberg knows about someone that is done after this year that he isn't saying yet. You don't just fill 14 scholarships when you have 13 for no reason. Next year we are going to be overloaded with guards.

Scott Christopherson-SG-RS Senior
Chris Allen-SG-RS Senior
Demarcus Phillips-SG-Senior
Chris Babb-SG-RS Junior
Tyrus McGee-PG/SG-Junior
Anthony Odunsi-SG/PG-Freshman
Tavon Sledge-PG/SG-Freshman

Scott is the only one that would make sense for him to be done after this year. He has enough credits to graduate and he wont get much playing time next year with Allen and Babb in front of him. I could see us redshirting Sledge and possibly Odunsi, even though Hoiberg always states how big 12 ready Odunsi is already.

Has there been any talk of redshirting someone while they pay for a year? So they wouldn't really be on scholorship next year, but would be after that. This would probably only apply to Odunsi and Sledge, and I have no idea what their family financial situations are like. I was just throwing out a suggestion I haven't seen considered.

He is listed as a RSJr on the roster. People continue to shot SC down based off his play last year which is totally ridiculous. I will wait to judge him until I see enough of him healthy.

I just want to add, so I am clear. I love Scotty. He works his butt off and can shoot lights out when he is on. I am in no way hoping he leaves I am just saying what I heard to get peoples thoughts

This is why I thought it was interesting that they introduced him as a Senior. I also saw that on the roster.

I always kinda figured it was Scott that would be leaving. He always seems kinda sad. It kinda sucks, because I still think he would be one of our top three players next year.

I missed the part of this thread where anyone "shot SC down..." ???

I think the OP made a good point. For all we know; SC could be planning to graduate, go get his masters, and play for UNC next year. That being said I think most of us would be really bummed if he's not playing for us his RSSr year.

I can say with certainty that an out-of-state player won't be paying tuition next year while redshirting.

Fred said in an interview that odunsi has a 4.0 gpa and is very smart, what are the chances he gets and academic scholarship?

That is pretty obvious, if you have a scholly you do not pay tuition. We may have two that will be redshirting.

The two likely scenarios are that one of the incoming frosh ends up at prep school instead for academic or athletic reasons or SC decides to not use up his last year of eligibility.
