As I was channel flipping I saw an image of Kinnick stadium tonight. I hate to say it but it looks epic with the alternating colors. I can't wait for a prime time espn game at Jack Trice.

saw this as well. Have to give them props. It looked pretty cool.

Do Athletic Departments hand out t-shirts for stuff like this (or Penn State's white-out, etc.)? Or do the students just do a great job of coordinating it?

No t-shirts. Just publicize it through various media sources. According to the Iowa Athletic Department it would have cost over $200,000 to do t-shirts for all the seats at Kinnick

Very impressive and I thought it would fail.

I agree. I just now saw the pictures, and it simply looked awesome. I thought it was a pretty cool idea, and they pulled it off very nice! Wish our fans could do better with these types of things, and/or our athletic department would promote it better. Did a very nice job against Nebraska in 2006, but other than that it has been sub-par.

I would love it if ISU had the ability to pull something like this off. Too bad ISU fans in general have the "I purchased the ticket and I have the right to wear whatever I want so **** off on trying to tell me what to wear" attitude. I mean, we can't even pull of a simple "cardinal rules" game. I swear some assclowns intentionally wear gold on cardinal rules day just so they're "anti-conformist".

We Hawk fans were skeptical that this could be pulled off, if for no other reason than when the weather starts to get cool, you see people wearing all sorts of colors with regard to jackets and cold-weather gear.

But the athletic department did a very good job making sure people knew about this. Ticket holders got emails, people were told several times to look up where they were sitting and what color that would be, etc.

As was mentioned earlier, it would have cost $200k to purchase and distribute complimentary t-shirts. No idea how much it cost them in advertising, contacting, etc, but certainly good to know Iowa is capable of pulling something like this off.

And what I like most is that now that this worked once, people will be more on-board for future color scheme games (though I think a black and gold spirit day is more than enough, and wouldn't want to see them too often).
