OSU paints practice field blue for Boise

I don't think so. I would put it on the same level as teams "piping" in noise if they are playing at a loud hostile stadium.

I think it is a great idea. OSU is going into a hostile stadium and playing against a team that has been undefeated for the past 2+ years. So, the whole idea of practicing like it is the game includes the blue field.

We did play there back in 2002 for the Humanitarian, pretty sure we didn't paint any of our practice fields blue.

We did lose but not because of the field then. That being said imo any familiarity with game situations and the feel of the surroundings is good.

Oregon State Paints Practice Field Blue for Boise State Game - KTRV Fox 12

Is this a little over the top? If ISU were playing at Boise would you want us to paint the field blue? Does the color have that much of an effect on the players?

I think it's a good idea. Wouldn't it be comparable to a team playing outdoors all the time, and then going to play in a dome? It's only one small element that has changed, but it can make a big difference. It's certainly not going to hurt them getting used to play on such a hideous color and it will definitely take away some of the shock factor once they actually get there.

No, simply paying attention to detail which is what good coaches do. Very smart. I really want to see the Beav's beat BSU.

Exactly, that's why Peyton Manning brings a bucket of water to practice sometimes, he dunks the footballs in them and practices throwing wet footballs, and he went on to win that Super Bowl over the Bears and he made Rex Grossman look like an idiot, it's all about preparation.

I would also put it on the same level as in basketball...you may not think but the surrounding especially behind the basket can completely throw off your depth perception...hence why they have shoot arounds.

You may not actively think about it but colors do make things look different.

Pointless. They're just letting the blue field get into their heads by doing this. Maybe Boise State is so tough to beat at home because they're good and they hardly ever play anybody above average on that field

Wrong. Think about how much they paid for the paint, and OSU is a highly regarded football team, if it was pointless, they probably wouldn't have spent the money to do it.

If Oregon State wins Saturday its not because they painted their field blue for practice. That blue field effect is overhyped...just like Iowa's pink locker room. I don't care how much money they spent on that, I still view it as a waste

I do too. V-Tech's fall from grace has really changed my stance on Boise. If they had stayed a highly ranked ACC contender I would have felt good about that win and had fun watching them run the table into the BCS championship game. Now I'd rather they just get out of the way.

Well, that's turning out to be quite the oxymoron the last half decade, now isn't it?

The advantage that BSU gets from their field is that their uniforms match so much that they blend in and are harder to pick up quickly. If OSU isn't going to put their scout team in blue uni's then it doesn't do a lot of good. Personally, I think the NCAA needs to step in and stop this field color business. Between Boise and the team that did the red field, it's going to ruin some televisions or people's eyes. It's just hard to look at.

I believe they are.
