Watching the game last night on Fox, I was annoyed by the lack of attention to the game in front of them shown by the announcers/commentators. Too often they failed to comment upon or show a key play. They were too busy talking about irrelevancies and missed showing the bad punt by us, a roughing the passer penalty on N. Ill., etc. They also often failed to note when substitutes entered the game. I am afraid the dreaded DVD (**** Vitale Disease), characterized by frequent jawing about anything except the game going on in from of them, is spreading throughout the sportscasting world.

I did appreciate them saying that We were not going to finish last in the north. And I did appreciate them saying that Mizzou and ISU are not going to roll over so nebraska can win the north.

The one that drove me nuts was the 5 minutes they spent interviewing that guy about rules changes.

What drove me nuts was how much they talked up Spann when Robinson was clearly the better back on the field last night.

Eeh...Robinson had his big run, but it seemed like Spann was moving the ball on us pretty easily all night.

Look at the overall offering, though. Robinson came out the backfield on passes a few times and made some nice grabs. Robinson did a great job of picking up blocks on a play action. Lastly, don't discount the big run. Robinson got the big run because he had better speed in the open field.

Spann did a nice job of moving the ball and had high ypc. Still, you'd think he was a hiesman candidate listening to the announcers.

I love me some ARob, but Spann is really good!

Walt Anderson during that drive was highly annoying!

Remember that it's not like FSN sent their number one crew to Ames last night, this wasn't even the 'B' team

I do find it had to complain too much when pretty much anyone in the country could watch ISU live and in HD

I wouldnt go that far if you take out his big run ARob wasn't really a factor on the ground, but through the air though he looked pretty good.

If they wouldn't have kept referring to us as the "Iowa Cyclones", it would have been better. Most of the time, I ignore the commentary, as it never seems to fail that Brent Musbarger will show up and make me hate life.

Enough about 'the one big run'. Their entire defensive scheme was to stop AROB. Why do you think AA could pick them apart for 10 yds a toss? Why do you think the tight end was open on every play? Because they LBs were keying run and filling the gaps, leaving CF filling their voids.

Really I think thats just the kind of games we can expect from Arob. He's going to have several short runs that get stuffed but he'll break one every now and then. And that made possible by what you mentioned. Anyone looking for 25 carry 200 yd games from Arob needs to put down the xbox controller.

+1 I never thought I'd see Iowa State on CSN Bay Area. Although my boss made the comment this morning that he thought it was the USC game when he first saw it.

I liked how they show the Nebraska locker room tape, then talked about Rhoads interviewing in Iowa City for this job.

The rule-changes interview might've been OK, if they actually interspersed Q&A's within the play-by-play, especially when something was happening on the field. I felt like I was in a living room listening to three guys who weren't watching the game as they talked about an unrelated topic, while watching the game with the sounded muted.

How many times did they refer to NIU as "a very good Northern Illinois team." When, actually, I don't think they are.

The quote I remember most was something about "The Iowa Cyclones up here in Iowa City". It would be nice if they at least paid enough attention to us to get our name and city correct.

Wow, I must have really zoned out the actual commentary to have missed some of those doozys. Honestly, the video of McDonald's food was more dynamic than their halftime analysts.
