MLB: Cubs close to trading Lee to Braves

His rejecting that Angels trade doesn't seem like such a bad move now....

Edit: I should say, not a bad move for Derrick. It would appear that the Cubs might have got a prospect from the Angels, and won't from the Braves- although likely not much

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I always liked Lee. He went anout his business and didn't say much about. And his glove was a big plus to have.

I don't think may Cub fans have anything but respect for Lee.

But he wasn't going to be back next year - and it's nice to see him go to a contender and have a shot instead of languishing the last 40 games in Chicago.

So what happened to him rejecting any trade? Wasn't that what he said when they tried to ship him out to Anaheim?

Never heard that. He just has the right to reject any trade... don't recall that he said he would.

We are finally getting some word now that he's been dealing with back pain, I'm guessing for most of the season. It makes sense given the cliff he fell off this year in terms of production. Best of luck D-Lee, you are a class act.

We can start the countdown to the Adam Dunn sweepstakes. Get excited North Siders!

Ehhh, still reading that as specific to the Angels deal.

What's he going to say? "I'm not going to uproot my family to go from one 'out of it team' to another"?

I think it's more about his daughter's illness. 3 weeks down the road reduces his amount of time away and lessens the effect on her treatment.

I thought that might be factor. I still want DLee to play out the season in Chicago. Favorite Cub since Mark Grace.
