IowaPrepFanatic.com HS Rankings

So, what has changed with Valley in the past 8 months to warrant their ranking after a dismal season (by their standards) last year? Have they been able to step up recruiting?

Fort Dodge AND Mason City in the top 10? What is going on? Both those teams were abysmal when I was in HS.

Fort Dodge will be there all year long....RB's are studs and got a transer in that may play QB. Valley is the biggest hurdle to FD this season. MC could be up and down, but have a really soft schedule to start the year.

I dont think its the players, its the lack of solid coaching. Heck, when we played them they had Kurtis Taylor playing both ways and we destroyed them for his two years. Not saying they wont be a decent team, but coaching goes a loong ways.

#1 Dowling vs. #2 Valley should be a heck of a way to start of the year. While I do think Valley may be a little overrated, they are certainly going to be better than last years 5-5 team, and this is always a hard fought rivalry game.

Different coach now in charge, and imo a better one.

FM is my pick to win the 8-man state title. Remember that when November comes around.

No dis respect Chris, but I just don't see any possible way that FM does well in 8 man this year even though they are moving down from A. I played against them last year as a member of the Treynor Cardinals. I know they were a young team with talented sophomores playing key positions(they seemed like head cases). I just don't think they have enough quality, even in 8 man.

That being said. Can't wait for Treynor to kick off your class 1a #7 ikm manning on august 27!

Solon is ranked on their name.....they arent that good with moving to 3A....I would have bought that ranking last year, not this year

No problem. Just mark it down. They will be in the conversation.

Treynor rules. Tell my friends Todd Gordon and Scott Rucker hello for me the next time you see them.

lotta hype with this junior class. only 2 losses in 3 years by a combined total of 6 points. it will be a junior heavy team, now i do agree they have to show it on the field but were hoping they live up to the hype.

Yeah Dowling has gone through the same thing before. Two years ago, Dowling had a decent senior class (Mayfield, Mercer, Hand) and a sick junior class that accounted for about half the starters (Riesberg, Zaun, Gaul) and lost to a senior heavy Valley team both times.
