Camden Yards - Baltimore / Babe Ruth

Trying to settle a trivia bet.

Is the brick building, behind right field - Camden Yards, the old orphanage where Babe Ruth was raised?

I know it also used to be the old B&O Railroad warehouse, but I was told it was an orphanage.

There is a statue of Babe outside of the stadium.

The one-time railroad center is 12 minutes west by foot from the City's Inner Harbor and only 2 blocks from the birthplace of baseball's most legendary hero, George Herman "Babe" Ruth. Ruth's father operated Ruth's Cafe on the ground floor of the family residence located at Conway Street and Little Paca, now center field at Oriole Park. The ballpark seats 48,876 (including standing room) and the project cost was approximately $110 million. It was designed by the Kansas City architectural firm of Helmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK) with direction and input from the Orioles and the State of Maryland, which owns and operates the facility through its agency, the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA).

Thanks Bawbie, yes - Ruth's family home was on Conway st, but later he was too unruly as a kid and was sent to St Mary's orphanage, which I thought was part of the building behind Right Field.

I guess my question is where is St Mary's orphanage located - was it part of the building behind right field?

His birth home is a few blocks away, but that wasn't the orphanage. Can't tell you where it was in Baltimore, but it wasn't that building.
