Kum & Go Beer

I just assumed they would bottle Des Moines river water and throw in a shot of everclear for the alcohol. Will probably taste about the same.
I've had a 6 pack from that company. Wasn't too bad as I recall, wasn't great either though. Who knows what sort of recipe and style they go with as well.
Edit: Minhas 1845 Pilsner is a decent brew. Looked it up what I drank.

...and the Berghoff Beer. I had some at the Great Lakes Brewfest last year. It was decent stuff.

Before I start, I'd like to thank Broodwich for bringing up this topic and to disclose that I'm an employee of Kum & Go. I serve as their Social Media Manager.
It's true that Kum & Go will be debuting their own line of beer. The various styles (more on that below) will be sold under the Hiland brand name.
The beer starts shipping this week and should be available in all stores that are part of the rollout by September. Hiland beer will be carried in Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri.
There will be four versions of Hiland beer, all based on a recipe that includes malted barley grown in the Midwest and domestic hops:
The beer is made by Minhas Craft Brewery in Monroe, Wisconsin. The brewery has been in operation since 1845 and is the 11th largest brewery in the U.S.
We’d love to have you try the beer and let us know what you think. There’ll be several locations doing in-store samples, which I’d be happy to pass along info about as it becomes available.

- Hiland Lager - alcohol content is 5% (12-pk cans)

Exactly Al. I bought a case of Minhas once and it was labeled "damn good beer" and "union made' all over the box and I couldn't choke hardly any of it down with my friends and we've drank some real crap ball beer in our lives.
I had some of the Berghoff beer at the Great Lakes Brewfest in Racine last year and I thought it was pretty good. That's a Minhas beer.
I will not be quick to discount it out of hand.
My wife and I were hosting an end of school year party. She came back from Costco with their own Costco branded beers. I told her we would be a laughing stock if we served it. In the end I reluctantly put it out there for our guests to try. It was a big hit with one of the varieties tolerable and the other three pretty darn good. Not long after that I saw a review of beers and it rated the Costco branded beers some of the best beers in their price range. I've forgotten which brewery makes it for them.
I will make sure that I try a beer before I diss it in the future.

It is great that companies are creating Social Media Manager positions these days. Not knowing what is going on in the Social Dimension is detrimental to many companies. I have that responsibility at my company but there isn't much social media activity to monitor in the contract screw machine business. It is a powerful tool though and I will definitely take advantage of the good side of it.
That Costco beer is good. It had the same name as a store in the mall that sells art and home furnishings but it tasted great.
