Insight on employment at John Deere likes, dislikes etc.How are the benefits.reason I am asking is I will be interviewing there next week.Any Info will be greatly appreciated.

What division? Are you going looking at credit, branch, etc?

I work for Credit and one of my best friends works at the factory in Ankeny. Both of us love it. A lot of people bag on the health plan because it's a high deductible plan but nothing could be better for a young healthy person. Put cash into your HSA to start, you won't regret it one bit.

I have worked for another big finance company in town and it doesn't even compare. Part of it is that I grew up in a small ag community and I have a great respect for Deere and the product we put out. People may not think so but believing in your work gives you a lot of job satisfaction.

You won't regret a career at Deere, I will say that.

I know a few people that work for Deere and they absolutely love it. Some have been there for over 40 years and a few are recent college grads. Best chances are, they have no intention of leaving. Benefits are fantastic and it's a very stable job. All around great company.

Deere benefits have changed big time in the last couple years. Good company and has a lot of ISU grads.

I work for Deere on Ankeny. Where are you interviewing and what for. I like it- but mainly cause it pays well.

Great place to work and great benefits.

Also incredibly stable over the past couple years which was nice compared to other companies.

I've had my eye on a position at the Ottumwa plant and have never got so much as my foot in the door.

My father in law works there and while he pretty much hates it (don't most all factory workers?) he has made an amazing living with virtually no education. People would crap if they knew what he makes painting hay bailers.

A lot of my best friends work for them(I don't).

My sense is they get worked very hard, but they get paid very well.

Great company. I've tried pushing my wife to go to work for them.

Ankeny plant welder posistion. What do you like about the job?Do you work in factory?

I work in a welding dept there. It is hot as **** for 3 months out of the year. Butgood pay and benfits after your probationary period of 7 months.
pm me with any questions .

If he's been there since before 1997 then he probably makes close to 100k a year. No offense to him, but I hate those old bastards! I'm just jealous.

I love how lots of guys like this "hate it" but make 100k with no education and having a job they leave at the door after 8 hours for the most part. Plus when they retire they basically keep making the same amount.

Yet the company is some evil entity.

I work for Deere Credit. I know the benefits are different from Deere itself but it is a heck of a company to work for. Deere takes care of their employees. You won't regret going there.

Case IH in Racine, WI is a much better company. JD is way overrated. Ask any successful farmer in Iowa.

Yeah, such a good company that they had to merge with Ford-New Holland. I come from a family of successful farmers and the only implements you'll see in our fields are green.

That being said, my dad, two uncles, and numerous cousins work for John Deere Waterloo operations. They love it and are very proud to be a part of the corporation. Great company.

why are they working at the plant if they are so successful farming?
