I know we have another polling thread about Farmageddon already, but I wanted to call everyone's attention to the petition that has been started to make a traveling trophy between ISU and KSU a reality.

Petition to add a Traveling Trophy to the annual "Farmageddon" football game between Iowa State and Kansas State

We have already received almost 100 signatures in under 3 days, but we need more. If everyone who voted YES on the other thread would have signed we would have almost 150 signatures.

This trophy could be so much fun. In the other thread we had lots of different ideas for the trophy itself, and we even had someone willing to donate an actual tractor!

Iowa Staters have shown in the past that we can be a powerful force for online voting, with the CSB Most Dominate Mascot, and the Capital One Mascot Challenge (as well as an ESPN best tailgating vote that we got disqualified for being too good at), so please sign and spread the word about this great idea. If we make this happen, which I believe we can, it would be a great accomplishment for CycloneFanatic, and the fans of ISU football.

I posted this idea on a KSU fan blog and have received a lot of positive feedback from them so far as well, but if you know any Wildcat fans/alumni please forward them the petition.

It's time to take advantage of the changing times in our conference, and band together with one of our fellow "Forgotten Five" members and make a new tradition for Iowa State football.

I am waiting until the petition gains more support until I send an email to Pollard and the KSU AD John Currie to present our case for a new trophy game, but at least one of us has already emailed Pollard to make him aware of the interest in the trophy.

So join the campaign, sign the petition, leave positive comments, and most importantly: send it on to your friends and family to sign.

LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

PS: We need to stake our claim on the Farmageddon name before the Hawkeyes and Huskers try to steal it for their new rivalry.

Also I have already emailed all of the Alumni Presidents for each of the local clubs in all 50 states, at least the ones that have a club. But I am curious if anyone has any other ideas on how to get more exposure for the petition. Please share.

I don't really consider K-State a rivalry game so I think this whole idea is kind of dumb to be honest. At least the telephone trophy with Mizzou has a good story behind it but how many "trophy" games do we really need? The only trophy game that we'll ever have that I'll care about is the Cy-Hawk. I don't see us and Mizzou fans talking smack before and after the game over that trophy and I doubt we'll ever get to that point with KSU fans either where we are going back and forth all year about "we are going to take that tractor trophy back to Ames where it belongs!"

I honestly think this is a great idea and hope others will be willing to show support for this cause as well.

Yeah sorry, I think its kind of dumb too. There's a reason you only have about 100 signatures. I'm sure many people saw no reason to rain on your parade in the other thread.

I think it is more to unify the schools and maybe create a rivalry it the coming years.

Are all rivalries as hateful, and spiteful as the cy-hawk? I don't see the problem with having a competitive fun rivalry.

Online petitions are lame. So, this shows that 5 people have signed this 'petition' under 25 fake names so far? How long until every nut-job starts 'signing' using bogus names and half-witted remarks? These always degenerate into ametuar hour at the comedy shack for guys in their mom's basements, rendering them worthless. If you really want this to take off, get a paper petition, stand outside Jack Trice and get real signatures. Have one of your Kstate buddies do the same at their lame house. This is the only way to effectively run a petition drive.

Youre welcome.

What?! I think Farmageddon is one of the best rivalry names in the country. What do you want to call it? Ag-pocalypse?

This is precisely the problem who says people want anything Ag related in a name. Note this is a rhetorical question, I already know your answer. And the response to that is, yes I know you may be an Ag student and lived on a farm, but not everyone has or does. Why not call it Calculusageddon, because the Engineering college is larger, or liberalgeddon because there more Liberal Arts students.

We are already up to 135, so there
And I set up the petition so it cannot record duplicate emails.

If you don't like it don't sign it

I am a city boy from Denver, and I love the name "Farmageddon"

The state of Iowa is an agricultural state. The state of Kansas is an agricultural state. Thus Farmageddon would be a fitting way to pay tribute to the battle between two universities from two of the most reputable states when it comes to agriculture. Farmageddon isn't just about the Universities and their programs in the AG field.... it is also paying homage to the state of Iowa and the state of Kansas.

This is coming from an Iowa boy that has never set foot on a farm in his life but respects the great roots in agriculture of both states.

You are in a very small minority that thinks that. Just saying....

I doubt that. Like I said, I'm sure people don't want to rain on your parade. If you guys love the idea, have at it. I'm not trying to say don't do it, pride is great. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you though. I just think its dumb.

What are you talking about?!? 80% of the people that voted over there on the poll were in favor of the trophy.

You guys are real Debbie Downers though, Geez:confused:

Yes, but ISU isn't the only one in this game. KSU has nowhere near the engineering school that ISU has, and there are liberal arts colleges all over the US. Strong agriculture programs are two things that ISU & KSU have in common, and the name Farmageddon is a unique name to identify the rivalry.

Look at some other good CFB rivalries. Paul Bunyan's Axe? Both Wisconsin & Minnesota lay claim to being the fictional birthplace of Paul Bunyan. Holy War? Utah & BYU are located in a state populated by religious fundamentalists. Crab Bowl? Maryland & Navy exist in a state with a strong crab fishing populace. These names are easy ways for outsiders to identify the teams & the signifigance of the game.

Bingo.

Why shouldn't two universities with strong ag programs in two of the strongest ag states in the country be proud to be identified as such?
