Through the weekend they attempted to break down the best 5 players at most position spots. Naive as I am, I thought that Husker writers would be knowledgeable enough about football to recognize talent and give the talent their due. NOT SO!

I was SHOCKED when ISU's ARob didn't make the B12 top 5 at RB. I was similarly shocked when Sims didn't make the Big12 top 5 in the secondary.

Sorry ... I had to vent. I guess I should just prepare myself for similar crap once Nebraska is "officially" in the Big 10.

No surprise...there's only one thing I hate worse than biased Husker writers...and that's biased Hawk writers.

The Husker Board and the Hawkeye Boards are both filled with fans measuring themselves to see who will wear the biggest hat in the western B10. Never have two fan bases deserved each other more than the SUI and Nub fan bases.

I still think that 10 years from now that the B12 will still be the drastically better football conference and that especially Nebraska will still be a total non-factor in basketball. I think that Bo is certainly the ugliest coach in America and maybe the craziest coach in America and I am not convinced that he will be successful long term.

We have to win the games to make their predictions false..... We just can't complain about a little bad press from foreign newspapers playing to the local base and make any points.

Meh,

Rankings won't mean **** when we beat them in Ames. And it's the LJS, nothing to see here folks...

I'm not going to click on the link, but I'm guessing that the 3 deep at NU made up the first 3/5 of each position. :skeptical:

weren't they both all big 12 last season? i know that this is just an opinion by some knownothing writer but still. to not put 2 all bit 12 performers within the top 5 returning players at their position is pretty naive.

oh well

Not gonna click on the link either. I've noticed that we're getting even less respect this year from Husker writers than ever before. I'm guessing last years loss to us in Lincoln (making it even worse for them) just isn't sitting well. Poor babies.

I haven't even read the article but I bet BOTH Roy Helu and Rex Burkhead were in there.

Al_4_State -

They had Helu on it, but not Burkhead. Of course, when they discussed Helu ... they used some of the space to "talk-up" Burkhead though.

Their top 5 at RB was:

1. Daniel Thomas
2. DeMarco Murray
3. Kendall Hunter
4. Roy Helu
5. Christine Michael

As for the top 5 in the secondary, they included both Amukamara and Hagg. There's no way that Hagg deserves to be ahead of Sims.

Stick to the Omaha "Weird Harold" (World Herald). They are knowledgeable and actually better at covering ISU than the Register.

Christine? Do we now have a female RB to match that former Colorado kicker??

I probably would have put Arob at 4/5th since it's pretty much a toss up between him and Helu. I wouldn't have put Hagg on there but I'm not sure I would put Sims on there with all the other good secondary players around the league. The paper wasn't purposely hating on you guys though.

thats a pretty damn solid group of big 12 running backs.

DeMarco Murray is a FREAK talent. Very Reggie Bush esque- for real. But he cant stay healthy ...
Kendal Hunter is a proven back. Probably deserves to be near the top.
Daniel thomas led the league last season. Not really sure how great he is.. i wouldn't trade arob for him.
Christine michael is definitely an up-and-comer... would not put him ahead of Arob though.
Helu is good too, but wouldn't put him ahead of Arob either

Daniel Thomas had the most yards, so most newspapers are going to have him #1. Murray and Hunter are probably more like 2a and 2b, but I'd have Murray ahead of Hunter. Truth be told, Christine (hehe) Michael will likely end up a better back than Helu or Arob, so he probably belongs ahead of them both. Without Cyrus Gray he could have led the league. As for the number 5 spot, it's definitely either Helu or Robinson. But they are practically interchangeable, so a Nebraska papers going to have Helu and and Iowa paper would have Robinson (or Jewell Hampton). JMO

Look for us to pass to ARob more this year. He can be a threat catching the ball more than he has been used.
