On KXNO earlier today Murph and Andy asked the question of whether you would rather beat Iowa at Kinnick or beat Nebraska at home this year. I have always thought that the majority of the fanbase would give up a win against Iowa for a win against Texas (subsitute any other major conference foe). What are you thoughts?

Nebraska, I want ISU to play for the Big 12 title, outside of that week, who gives a **** about beating Iowa?

Nebraska, and it's not even close. It's nice to beat Iowa, but ISU needs conference wins.

Edit: Bizarre, Cyclonestate78. We are of one mind.

Nebraska and it isn't even close. Beating Iowa is fun but at the end of the day it means nothing for bowl placement when compared to any of our conference games.

The poll is a different question than the thread, ANYONE that would rather beat Iowa than Texas is high as a kite.

Nebraska. This could be the last time we play them in a looooong time and I would love to have bragging rights for the next ??? years.
We play Iowa every year, so those bragging rights only last 356 days.

Guess I was thinking about going forward. And I am not suggesting it would be a every year event, but I would trade every win over Iowa for a win in conference in every year it we have won recently. If would could get the level that we were splitting home and homes with the major conference players, I would be thrilled!

I would much rather beat a top rated team rather than an over-rated one.

Glad to see we are on the same page to begin with. Hopefully this will put an end to the idea that ISU fans only care about beating Iowa.

There is no doubt about it. Winning conference games is what matters. Sure we would love to beat Iowa but that doesn't make our season. Going to bowl games and trying to compete for a North Title are way more important to the program.

A win over Texas would do the most for this program, followed by a win over Oklahoma.

Let's just beat em both, ok?

Which nine days are we not allowed to brag?

To answer the question, I would take a win over Texas/Nebraska over a win against Iowa any season.

Christmas, New Years Day, Easter, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, President's Day, Labor day, and Memorial day.

dammit, I knew it didn't sound right. :biglaugh:

Definitely Nebraska or Texas over Iowa. Besides the reasons mentioned we'd also get a lot more national respect for these wins then over Iowa. Not because Iowa isn't good, but if we beat them it's just chalked up as a rivalry win.
