Reds rookie pitcher Travis Wood has a perfect game against Philly through 7 right now. Game is on the MLB network (213 for DirecTv).

Just turned it on. Boy this would be something if he threw a perfect game against a pitcher who threw a perfect game earlier this year.

Through 8, but lost in this is the game is still 0-0. Reds need a run here or he might have to go 10 innings ala Jack Morris's complete game shutout in the 91 World Series.

Isn't the definition of a "perfect game" 27 up, 27 down? I'd hate it if this game does go extras and he loses out on his name being added to the record books because of a caveat...

Nope. If he would have done it in 10 innings, it's still a perfect game.

Leadoff double for PHI to open the 9th.

No, no hitters, perfect games have to be finished by the pitcher. He would have had to pitch perfect through the end of the game.

The Reds could have had a "team" perfect game if another pitcher replaced him and they still ended up not giving up anything, but he wouldn't get credit for it himself.

Tonight's two starting pitchers:

9 IP each, 0 runs allowed

54 outs in just 59 batters faced

Incredible.
