Arnaud to start?

hopefully soon. if ISU is going to continue to loose, at least get the freshman as much experience as possible. I would like to see Bates play too, make this season as a trial for the starting job for the 08 season. I think a lot of frustrations would go away if we knew that GC was playing a freshman QB.
Why not? It might be unfair to Bret's legacy as a "hall of famer" at ISU but Bret is no longer qualified to run this offense. I don't see how someone can study the game daily and get worse but he has. I think you start Arnaud and get a year under his belt. Why waste a year of his elgibility sitting on the bench watching Meyer throw interceptions?
Don't forget that Bates is using a year of eligibility up too. Make it a competition for the starting job. Don't hand the job to Arnaud, make him beat out Bates. The looser plays Safety or WR.
I know nothing of Bates' abililty but my choice would be Arnaud at this point and put Bates at another position. If Arnaud isn't working out, either go back to Bret to finish the season or switch Bates back to QB. This thing can be very fluid. I think this season is great for experimenting with positions. We have nothing more to lose at this point. You might as well do some "what ifs" with the players.
I don't think we see him starting until after the TX/OU games. He'd probably get his head taken off over the next stretch of 7 games.
Statistically speaking, I don't know how you can deny him a place in the ISU hall of fame. Like Brian says, he holds every major QB record at ISU.
While he doesn't plaly like it, he does hold some ISU records, so that wasn't intended as a joke (sad as that might be)
I don't think Austin will start for a while, it's just far too brutal of a schedule coming up. Nebraska, Texas and OU would eat him alive. Now if it wasn't for that strech, the earliest I'd say he starts is Toledo, however I don't see Chizik starting him for one game then going back to Bret, and I don't see Chizik tossing him to the wolves. If Bret doesn't pull his head out of his *** though, I do see Austin having a lot more playing time during the games, and he could be starting come Missouri or Kansas State...
It's time to make a change, Bret just seems to have lost confidence in himself.
Regardless, Chizik knows what's best for the team and I won't question it. I wish the fans would do the same, leaving the boo-birds outside the stadium. It makes me sick to hear our fans booing a player/team/coach.
