MLB: Cubs - Tracy or Baker Likely to Go

Neither are worth a crap so I could care less which one goes. Cubs will be in selling mode in a few weeks anyways. I'd put good money on a CyBookie event that Ted Lilly won't be a Cub after the trading deadline.

This is actually bad new. Either player could provide a serious boost to the I-Cubs playoff run!

I'm sure you could say the same thing about a couple more players on the roster other than just Lilly. D Lee could help someone out too and he's in his last year of his contract.

Someone on CF said this a while back and they're right. The Cubs need to just start dumping payroll because this line-up peaked in 2008. Keep the young guys and get rid of anyone else who isn't going to help in the long run.

Everyone not named Colvin, Castro, Cashner and Marmol should be available. This is all over.

Let's pray that Colvin is not the left-handed 2010 version of Matt Murton and is a legit cog going forward. The kid hasn't stopped hitting, despite Lou's 5 AB's a week.

Agreed! I just want to bang my head how Lou can't find a better way to get Colvin in the lineup more. He's just 1 off the team lead for HR with around 100-150 less AB's than Lee and Soriano who each have 10, also 5th in RBI, 2nd in BA, 5th in OBP and 1st in SLG and OPS. For a team struggling to score runs a guy like this should be hitting in the middle of the lineup nearly every day until he cools off! Plus he's solid defensively too so it's not like he's a liability in the field like Soriano is.

Biggest problem is Lee has a no-trade so have to find just the right fit for him to waive it probably, and Z, Soriano, and Fukudome all have terrible contracts and some kind of no-trade clauses too I think. Silva and Dempster have been solid but again if you can find someone to give you some good talent back in a deal for them I think you strike while the iron is still hot.

I'm ready for a youth movement, trade some of the dead weight off and see what some of these kids can do in an every day role. Samardzija is getting close to being out of options so it's almost do or die time with him and there is all kinds of young pitching talent in Iowa doing well right now that could back fill some spots. Casey Coleman his pitched well lately, another promising young prospect Jay Jackson has a 3.68 ERA with an impressive 1.09 WHIP. Thomas Diamond is a former 1st round pick of the Rangers who is doing well too. Position players nothing special at Iowa right now really unfortunately but pitching has been solid in Iowa so I think you could give some of those kids a shot if you traded off some parts of the staff.

We are not a very good ball club. It is depressing to watch. D Lee and Rammy look like they are being tortured out there, and they are our leaders. If it is only Baker or Tracy I will be surprised.

If we liquidate our lineup Lou will retire. Torn on this as I love Lou, but do not see him wanting to rebuild. Would love for Brenly to get a chance to manage this club.

The Sox did want Fukudome the same time we did. Linebrink is horrible but it clears more time for Colvin. I can't imagine Nady is a Cub for much longer either.

The irony of Samardzjia is that we drafted Colvin way sooner than anyone would have so we could pay him under slot to sign Samardzjia to a ludicrous signing bonus. Look who is sticking in the big leagues and who isn't?

Samardzjia sucks, the guy has a good fastball and no secondary pitches. This screams set-up guy and not starter yet we build our draft around him thinking he was a top of the rotation starter. Teach him a slider and get him in the bullpen. DO IT NOW!!
